Description: General Trading Co. Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a Accounting Manager at it's Carlstadt, NJ location. We are looking for a qualified and motivated individual who is ready to put their problem solving, continuous improvement, and organizational skills to work. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing sales, payroll, cash collections and deposit records, preparation of the financial statements and tax disbursements, recording and reconciling cash collections versus sales of merchandise, hiring and evaluating new and existing staff, maintaining records of all expenses and publishing reports regarding those records, recommending improvements in the performance of the accounting function, interacting with other department managers in the attainment of corporate goals and maintaining sufficient cash flow to ensure sound investments of continued growth. This individual needs to be detailed-oriented, organized, flexible and dependable.

Functions:

• Prepare financial statements for 10 companies, gather monthly reports from various areas in accounting; prepare journal entries; analyze general ledger account balances for accuracy; review financials with Controller. Prepare entries and reconcile inter-company accounts each month.
• Manage the daily processes in the general accounting dept., cash & carry, payables, payroll, and report daily. Serve as back-up for both driver & employee payrolls.
• Oversee internal fixed asset records – supervise Junior Accountant in gathering and processing documents for presentation to CPA for tax returns and recording into general ledgers.
• Process sales and use tax payments; corporate estimated tax payments, annual filing fees, milk license & litter tax; processed monthly, quarterly or yearly where applicable. Analyze and adjust general ledger accounts for accuracy.
• Manage bank information: review daily account balances in order to cover expenses; review completed bank reconciliations; update Trust and LLC worksheets; handle ledger entries.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Direct backup to the payroll position when necessary using ADP WFN & Nova-time systems/procedures for completing a weekly/bi-weekly payroll.
• Direct Backup for driver payroll using MS Access

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required
• 5 years experience in a management position
• 10 years accounting experience
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks and MS Office
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Ability to work with a team
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
