About This Position
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our accounting team at our growing NYC-based construction management firm. This role reports directly to the Northeast Division Controller and plays a key supporting role across core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, compliance, financial reporting, and lien management processes. As an Accounting Manager, you will work closely with both the accounting and project teams, under the direction of the Controller, to assist in the execution and coordination of day-to-day financial operations. This individual will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and helping to ensure processes are followed consistently across projects.
The ideal candidate will act as a reliable resource to the team—helping to facilitate workflows, follow up on outstanding items, and provide general support to ensure the smooth operation of accounting functions. This role is not responsible for owning processes independently but is critical in supporting the Controller and broader team in maintaining strong financial management practices and operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- · Contribute to the timeliness and accuracy of financial reports, under the direction of the Controller
- · Support compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
- · Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and timely
- · Work with the Controller to support internal control systems and maintain policies for financial reporting
- · Review financial data on a monthly basis to help ensure completeness and identify discrepancies
- · Support project-level accounting activities, including job cost tracking, cost coding, and reconciliation of project financials
- · Assist in maintaining alignment between project budgets, commitments, and actual costs within the accounting system
- · Support the tracking and processing of subcontractor invoices and change orders
- · Assist with lien waiver tracking and related documentation to support compliance with project requirements
- · Support WIP (Work in Progress) reporting by assisting in gathering and validating project financial data
- · Assist in the preparation of monthly owner draw requests/bills and support their submission as required
- · Support the month-end close process by gathering and organizing required data
- · Support audit requests by gathering documentation and responding to internal and external inquiries
