Job Description

We offer hands-on help to address chronic homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, disability, and systematic poverty by offering innovative solutions and proactive services to the most vulnerable in Schenectady County.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday
Hours: 8:00AM - 2:30PM
Pay: $25/hr

Function:
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department. This role assists with recruiting, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, payroll support, and compliance with company policies and employment regulations.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
• The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, maintains confidentiality, and possesses strong communication and customer service skills.
• Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team. • Assist with recruiting activities, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
• Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employment documentation.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR databases.
• Process employment-related paperwork, including new hires, status changes, and terminations.
• Assist with benefits enrollment and respond to employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
• Support payroll by collecting and verifying employee information
• Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation as requested.
• Track employee training, certifications, and performance review schedules.
• Help coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Respond to employee inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate HR staff when necessary.
• Perform other administrative and HR-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education

• Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience
• 1–3 years of administrative or human resources experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is an asset. Required Skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move throughout the office as needed
