Position Purpose:

The essential functions of the Assistant Center Director are:

1. Overall operation of the Center in the absence of the Center Director;

2. Ensuring, in concert with the Center Director, that the Center is operated in

Following Company and state licensing standards and operating

Procedures;

3. Clerical duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Under the guidance of and as directed by the Center Director:

¨ Manages the Center in conformance with all state and local regulations and Way to Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures.

¨ Effectively resolves problems related to the management of the Center or seeks appropriate assistance from the Center Director and/or General Manager.

¨ Maintains administrative records for the Center, if applicable.

¨ Maintains appropriate and required records on children.

¨ If applicable, plan work schedules, supervise staff, assist in lesson planning, and evaluate staff's performance.

¨ Keeps fully apprised of all activities in the Center.

¨ Prepares and forwards reports and forms following Way to Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures.

¨ Represents the interests of Way To Grow Child Care Center.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of and as directed by the Center Director:

¨ Maintains an accurate financial accounting of the Center operation and protects the Company's monetary assets.

¨ Assists in planning an annual budget and manages the operational budget as approved, if applicable.

¨ Ensures that classroom equipment is maintained in good repair. Through the Company policies, Center Director requests replacements and contracts for needed repairs following procedures.

¨ Prepares and forwards required reports as designated by the Center Director or General Manager, such as weekly statistics each Friday.

¨ Takes responsibility for Company assets and cash and makes daily deposits.

¨ Ensures accurate and timely collection of accounts receivable per Way To Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures.

¨ Makes purchases necessary to Center operations while maximizing operational profit.

Center Staff:

Under the guidance of and as directed by the Center Director:

¨ Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff to maintain proper staff/child ratios, as directed by Center Director.

¨ Ensures each staff member receives and understands her/his job description, Way To Grow Child Care Center policies and procedures, and other orientation information and materials.

¨ Maintains personnel records as required by the Center Director and ensures confidentiality. (Health records must be kept in a separate confidential file).

¨ Maintains a current substitute list, if available.

¨ Ensures that up-to-date records of each child are maintained.

¨ Prepares and forward all personnel records and forms as required to Area Manager/corporate office in a timely manner.

¨ Coaches, councils and conducts performance reviews appropriately and on time for all staff in a supportive role with the Center Director.

Enrollment:

Under the guidance of and as directed by the Center Director:

¨ Conducts interview of parents and child before enrolling.

¨ Ensures that parents of enrolled children complete all necessary forms. Plans and conducts orientation for newly enrolled parents.

¨ Is visible and available to parents at their convenience to listen and take appropriate action on their concerns.

¨ Keeps parents informed of their child's progress and Center activities.

¨ Tracks all inquiries, converts inquiries into parent tours of the Center, and converts tours into enrollments.

Parents:

Under the guidance and direction of the Center Director:

¨ Maintains effective communications between Center staff and parents.

¨ Conducts parent meetings and other conferences as requested.

¨ Supports the Teacher and ensures that goal assessment cards are completed by Senior Staff and are communicated to parents according to Child Care Learning standards.

¨ Regularly solicits feedback from parents in order to make improvements in the Center.

Safety and Health:

Under the guidance and direction of the Center Director:

¨ Conducts training of staff in all Center safety roles and regulations.

¨ Enforces all safety rules and regulations with staff for the safety of the children and parents.

¨ Maintains up-to-date health records for both staff and children.

¨ Enforces staff habits that result in clean and healthy care of children, including universal precautions.

¨ Maintains a clean environment by providing for scheduled cleaning of the Center and thorough frequent visual checks.

¨ Inform parents whenever their child has been exposed to communicable disease.

¨ Ensures that someone with first aid training and/or CPR training is always present at the Center per state requirements.

¨ Has emergency telephone numbers and an emergency plan, conducts emergency drills.

¨ Maintains building, equipment and grounds through daily safety checks to ensure safe environment meeting safety standards.

Reporting Relationships:

¨ Reports to the Center Director. The Assistant to the Director supervises senior staff caregivers, staff caregivers, a cook, aides, bus driver, as directed by Center Director, and may have scheduled caregiver responsibilities in addition to providing administrative and operational support.

¨ Licensing regulations pertaining to the operation and staffing of a Center vary from state to state in restrictions and in degree of individual interpretation given to each state's agent. Therefore, an excellent relationship between the Center Director supports the Center Director in maintaining good communications with the state licensing board representative.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

¨ Assistant to the Director must be able to react quickly with sound judgment and problem solving skills in complex and critical situations such as injuries and accidents. Assistant to the Director must be qualified and able to perform the duties of other staff members as assigned by the Center Director.

¨ Assistant to the Director must possess excellent communications skills, including personal face-to-face communications with parents, staff and children, the ability to receive and respond to telephone inquiries, and excellent written communications through letters and personal computers.

¨ Frequently lifts or moves weight as in lifting, carrying, and holding children and infants of 10 to 60 pounds.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (including, or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field), and

• One year of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and
• One year of experience supervising staff.

OR
New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential, and

• One year of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and
• One year of experience supervising staff.

OR
Associate's degree in Early Childhood or a related field with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, and

• Two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and
• Two years of experience supervising staff.

OR
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, and

• Two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and
• Two years of experience supervising staff.

OR

Associate's degree in Early Childhood or a related field with a plan of study leading to a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential, and

• Two years of full-time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program; and
• Two years of experience supervising staff.
