POSITION: Deputy Registrar for Registration and Reporting

REPORTS TO: Registrar

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt, Hybrid Work Environment

RANGE: $95,000 - $115,000

Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for a Deputy Registrar for Registration and Reporting to join our team. Reporting to the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar for Registration and Reporting will manage various administrative processes related to student registration and overall data management and organization. The Deputy Registrar for Registration and Reporting will ensure efficient operations in the Registrar’s Office while providing support to students and faculty, contributing to the smooth functioning of the academic year.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Managing registration processes including providing information to students, updating databases, troubleshooting registration, tracking mandatory course enrollments, and waitlists.
  • Create various teaching schedules, 1L group schedules, final exam schedules, and petition faculty preferences for teaching schedules.
  • Manage, verify and provide data for multiple reporting agencies and BLS constituents, including ABA, Middle States, IPEDS, NYSED.
  • Assist with operations during final examinations.
  • Report and verify enrollment data with National Student Clearinghouse
  • Process various student status updates including pass/fail requests, LOAs, withdrawals and transfer of divisions.
  • Regularly review course catalog and add/delete courses as necessary.
  • Regularly review and update certificate program requirements as new courses are added/removed.
  • Assist with grading, including approvals and posting.
  • Oversee, collect, and analyze data entry into Colleague (Ellucian); update relevant information on the school’s intranet.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in education, preferably in a registrar’s office or academic affairs.
  • Must understand the importance of FERPA and student records privacy issues.
  • Must have the ability to make independent determinations in a variety of situations with limited supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Must have a wide degree of creativity in problem-solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to Staff, Colleagues, Employees, and Students.
  • Must be comfortable with technology and various systems and software.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Colleague (Ellucian) or related applications preferred.
  • Experience with Informer.
  • Experience in higher education or non-profit organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites applications is a plus.

Work environment:

  • The work environment includes outdoor and indoor areas. Indoors may include small and or enclosed spaces.
  • May include evening hours during final exams.
  • Remote capabilities:

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule.
  • Physical demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
