This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on building impactful community partnerships and advancing out-of-school-time initiatives at a national level.
The role will lead a diverse portfolio of programs, partnerships, and pilots designed to strengthen youth-serving communities and drive meaningful social impact.
You will guide initiatives from planning and implementation through evaluation, continuous improvement, and sustainable scale.
Success will require strong relationship-building, strategic program management, and the ability to influence across teams and organizations without direct authority.
You will work closely with community organizations, youth-serving networks, funders, internal leaders, and other stakeholders to create lasting partnerships.
The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, including budgets, contracts, operational infrastructure, and team development.
This is a fully remote U.S. role with approximately 25% travel and the opportunity to shape programs with broad community and national impact.
- Lead the planning, execution, and ongoing management of out-of-school-time programs and community partnership initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational priorities and impact goals.
- Oversee a portfolio of community-based initiatives, guiding promising programs through pilots, refinement, evaluation, and development into sustainable, scalable models.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with out-of-school-time providers, community organizations, national networks, funders, and other strategic partners.
- Advise organizational leaders on opportunities to engage young people in settings beyond traditional schools and strengthen community-based approaches.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives by establishing clear ownership, roles, decision rights, timelines, stakeholder engagement strategies, and accountability structures.
- Represent the organization in partner, funder, field-facing, and leadership meetings, providing concise, action-oriented updates and advocating for community partnership priorities.
- Manage and develop managers and other team members, providing coaching, professional development, strategic direction, and support for successful program execution.
- Oversee contractors, consultants, vendors, budgets, contracts, scopes of work, and grant deliverables to ensure high-quality and timely outcomes.
- Develop scalable tools, processes, and infrastructure covering partner selection, readiness assessment, pilot launches, implementation support, communications, documentation, risk management, sustainability, and project closeout.
- Capture lessons learned and best practices, translating insights into repeatable approaches that can be replicated across partners and communities.
- Use evaluation findings, data, and partner feedback to improve implementation, guide investment and scaling decisions, and strengthen organizational storytelling.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure community partnership and out-of-school-time priorities are integrated into broader strategy and operations.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support organizational priorities and program impact.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience leading out-of-school-time programs, youth-serving initiatives, community partnerships, or complex cross-sector programs.
- Deep understanding of the out-of-school-time field and the needs, opportunities, and operating environments of community-based organizations and youth-serving networks.
- Demonstrated experience designing, launching, evaluating, and scaling pilot programs or initiatives.
- Strong project management capabilities, including experience managing cross-functional projects, budgets, timelines, stakeholder relationships, and competing priorities.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and influence decisions across organizations and stakeholder groups without relying on direct authority.
- Experience developing operational processes, systems, and infrastructure that enable consistent program delivery and sustainable growth.
- Strong judgment, communication, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, funders, community leaders, and external partners.
- Ability to use data, evaluation results, and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement and inform strategic decisions.
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, vendors, consultants, and grant deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop managers and other professionals.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and navigate ambiguity effectively.
- Commitment to culturally responsive, equitable, and community-centered approaches.
- Experience working in a remote or geographically distributed organization is preferred.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% and live within reasonable distance of a major U.S. airport.
- Candidates should be comfortable representing the organization externally and participating in public-facing communications and professional networks as needed.
- As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to submit a project plan document or presentation deck from a previous project and discuss their contributions, decisions, outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Annual salary of $100,000–$110,000, with structured salary placement designed to promote internal pay equity.
