Job Description
University Christian School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Science Teacher who is passionate about Christian education and committed to helping students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based science instruction that encourages students to explore God's creation through observation, investigation, experimentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The teacher will create a structured and supportive classroom environment while integrating a biblical worldview throughout the curriculum.
Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective science instruction appropriate for middle school students.
- Teach assigned science courses in accordance with University Christian School curriculum standards and academic expectations.
- Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview into science instruction and classroom discussions.
- Develop engaging lessons that incorporate hands-on activities, laboratory experiences, demonstrations, technology, and collaborative learning.
- Help students develop scientific inquiry, critical-thinking, problem-solving, data-analysis, and communication skills.
- Teach and reinforce proper laboratory procedures and science safety practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and effective classroom and laboratory environment.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, projects, and other learning activities.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, laboratory work, and classroom participation.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student grades, attendance, and academic progress.
- Differentiate instruction when appropriate to meet the varying academic needs and learning styles of students.
- Establish and maintain appropriate classroom management consistent with the policies, procedures, and Christian values of University Christian School.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, faculty, administration, and staff.
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding academic progress, behavior, and areas of concern.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and administrators regarding curriculum development, student needs, instructional strategies, and school initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, parent conferences, school programs, and other required activities.
- Supervise students during assigned duties, transitions, activities, and school events as needed.
- Encourage students to demonstrate responsibility, integrity, respect, perseverance, and Christian character.
- Support the mission, policies, procedures, and overall ministry of University Christian School.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Degree or coursework in Science, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Teaching experience, particularly at the middle school level, preferred.
- Appropriate teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification as required by University Christian School and accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of middle school science curriculum, instructional practices, and laboratory safety.
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with middle school students and their families.
- Commitment to continued professional growth and development.
- Must support and uphold the Christian mission, philosophy, and values of University Christian School.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Creativity in developing hands-on and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a faculty and ministry team.
- Flexibility and willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school.
The position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and working with students in a classroom or laboratory environment. The employee must be able to perform classroom demonstrations, supervise laboratory activities, use instructional equipment, and occasionally lift or move classroom materials and supplies.
