About This Position

SUMMARY

The Mental Health Counselor provides individual and family counseling to children, adolescents, and/or adults in an integrated care setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Works from a strengths-based perspective and empowers patients appropriately within their natural support systems
  • Serves all patients with compassion, many of whom have experienced past or present exposure to trauma, chronic medical conditions, poverty, and healthcare disparities
  • Provides a high level of customer service consistent with best practice standards in the mental health field
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Maintains required records

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field required
  • Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) required
  • Two (2) or more years of outpatient counseling/therapy experience, preferably in a community health setting, preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with mandated reporting requirements, including identification and reporting of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation

SKILLS

  • Proficient in the use of electronic health records
  • EPIC experience a plus

TRAVEL

This position is located in Chapel Hill and requires occasional ability to travel to FCC site in Tyler.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • 20% of the time is spent making repetitive motions
  • 50% of the time is spent sitting
  • 10% walking, bending, standing, stooping, crouching or kneeling
  • 20% of the time is spent using hands to type, write or use controls
