Job Description

Chief Technology Officer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Canada.

The Chief Financial Officer will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the financial strategy, stability, and long-term sustainability of a newly formed, regulated financial institution. This executive will oversee all core finance and treasury functions, including capital planning, liquidity, regulatory reporting, and investment strategy, while ensuring strong governance and risk management practices. Operating at the intersection of fintech innovation and banking regulation, the role requires both strategic vision and rigorous execution. The CFO will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board, helping guide decisions that impact growth, compliance, and operational resilience. This is a rare opportunity to help build a financial institution from the ground up in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep banking expertise, a strong control mindset, and the ability to lead through complexity and change.

Accountabilities:

The CFO will be responsible for leading all financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building a robust financial foundation for a new banking entity. This includes oversight of capital, liquidity, reporting, and investment strategy, as well as developing scalable financial systems and controls.

  • Lead financial strategy, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term capital management aligned with regulatory expectations and business objectives
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including Call Reports, GAAP financial statements, and audit readiness requirements
  • Manage liquidity, asset-liability management (ALM), interest rate risk, and overall balance sheet optimization
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial governance frameworks, and audit-compliant operational processes
  • Serve as Investment Officer, overseeing investment policy, portfolio management, and excess capital deployment strategies
  • Communicate financial performance, risk posture, and strategic insights to the CEO, executive leadership, and Board committees
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, working closely with regulators and managing examination processes
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced finance executive with a strong background in banking or regulated financial services, combining technical expertise with leadership capability and strategic thinking.

  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, treasury, or banking operations
  • 5+ years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Controller, Treasurer, or equivalent) within a regulated financial institution
  • Strong expertise in GAAP reporting, regulatory filings, ALM, liquidity management, and capital planning
  • Deep understanding of banking regulations, internal controls, audit processes, and financial risk management
  • Proven experience working with investment portfolios and financial instruments in a regulated environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executive and Board-level decisions
  • Ability to operate in complex, high-stakes, and evolving organizational environments
Benefits:
  • Competitive executive compensation package aligned with experience and market benchmarks
  • Performance-based incentives and long-term financial rewards
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
  • Paid time off, holidays, and flexible work arrangements (remote-first environment)
  • Life, disability, and supplemental insurance coverage
  • Professional development opportunities and executive growth support
  • Opportunity to help build and shape a new regulated financial institution from the ground up.
