Director of Finance

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Finance in Canada.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to drive financial excellence within a fast-growing, technology-focused environment. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of financial operations, from planning and forecasting to governance and stakeholder reporting. You will work closely with executive leadership to shape long-term financial strategies, support business growth, and ensure operational efficiency. You will lead a talented finance team while partnering with investors, auditors, and senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful business outcomes. Accountabilities:
  • Oversee all financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial governance.
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support organizational growth, profitability, and long-term business objectives.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles, monitoring performance and recommending corrective actions when needed.
  • Deliver financial modeling, scenario planning, and strategic analysis to support key business initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that promote operational excellence.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights, business recommendations, and strategic guidance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, investors, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders while presenting financial results and business performance updates.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced financial qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience working within technology, SaaS, fintech, blockchain, or high-growth industries is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, corporate finance, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven expertise in financial analysis, modeling, strategic planning, and business performance management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, financial software platforms, advanced Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business insights.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience collaborating with executives, investors, auditors, and external partners.
