Job Description

Director of Accounting, AI Operations

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Accounting, AI Operations in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of accounting leadership and AI-driven transformation, offering a unique opportunity to redefine how financial operations function across a multi-brand portfolio. You will own core accounting operations while simultaneously designing and implementing intelligent automation that replaces manual processes and accelerates financial close cycles. Operating within a fast-scaling, AI-native environment, you will bring structure, accuracy, and innovation to a complex, multi-entity accounting landscape. The position blends hands-on technical accounting expertise with forward-thinking operational design, where AI agents and workflow automation are central to success. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to build scalable accounting systems across a $1B+ organization. This is a high-impact, builder-oriented role for a leader ready to reshape modern accounting operations.

Accountabilities
  • Own end-to-end accounting operations across multiple portfolio companies, including monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of the general ledger, maintaining adherence to GAAP and ASC 606 standards.
  • Oversee revenue recognition processes, billing systems, and integrations with platforms such as Stripe and similar tools.
  • Design, implement, and optimize AI-driven workflows and automation tools across A/P, A/R, and general ledger functions.
  • Develop and deploy AI agents to reduce manual accounting work and accelerate close timelines.
  • Improve financial systems, integrations, and reporting structures to enhance visibility and operational efficiency.
  • Support tax compliance, audit processes, and annual budgeting activities as needed.
  • Provide hands-on accounting support across portfolio companies when operational needs arise.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering and finance, to build scalable and intelligent accounting solutions.
Requirements
  • CPA certification or equivalent experience with strong exposure to audit processes and ASC 606 compliance.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience in high-growth or private equity–backed organizations.
  • Proven ownership and leadership of financial close processes, with demonstrated improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools, automation, or agents to streamline accounting or financial workflows.
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting systems, integrations, and process optimization.
  • Experience working across complex, multi-entity environments or portfolio-based structures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, finance, and executive stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments requiring independent decision-making.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a builder mentality focused on systems, scale, and automation.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $150,000 – $190,000 USD annually.
  • Performance-driven environment with high executive visibility and strategic influence.
  • Opportunity to design and define an AI-native accounting function at scale.
  • Exposure to a $1B+ multi-brand portfolio with enterprise-level complexity.
  • Paid time off and flexible leave policies.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Retirement savings plans (401(k) / RRSP matching depending on location).
  • Employee discounts across a portfolio of retail brands.
  • Supplemental insurance and wellness benefits.
  • Remote work flexibility across the US and Canada.
