Manager of Accounting - Accounts Receivable

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Manager of Accounting – Accounts Receivable in Canada.

This role is a key finance leadership position responsible for overseeing the Accounts Receivable function and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all receivables processes. You will lead a team focused on managing billing, collections, reconciliations, and financial reporting while continuously improving systems and controls. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding financial health by ensuring timely and accurate recording of revenues and customer payments. Operating in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will partner with multiple departments to ensure seamless financial data flow and operational alignment. You will also act as a people leader, developing and supporting your team through coaching, performance management, and process optimization. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end Accounts Receivable operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. You will lead a team responsible for billing, collections, reconciliations, and reporting while driving continuous improvements in systems and workflows. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Accounts Receivable team, ensuring strong performance, engagement, and alignment with organizational goals
  • Overseeing billing, collections, cash application, and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate financial records
  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency and reduce errors
  • Ensuring timely and accurate posting of receivables transactions to the general ledger
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements, AR balances, and reserve provisions for doubtful accounts
  • Maintaining and reconciling subledger-to-ledger accuracy and resolving discrepancies
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure proper financial data flow and issue resolution
  • Managing month-end and year-end AR close activities and reporting requirements
  • Supporting audits and compliance processes with accurate documentation and reporting
  • Coaching, developing, and mentoring team members while supporting recruitment and onboarding efforts
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong accounting experience, leadership capability, and a solid understanding of accounts receivable operations. You are analytical, detail-oriented, and confident in managing both processes and people. Key qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on accounts receivable or financial operations
  • Proven experience leading or supervising accounting teams
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to broader team objectives
