We are seeking an Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our dedicated accounting team. In this role, you’ll support a mission-driven nonprofit that provides free programs and services to New Mexicans. With 21 locations statewide and diverse federal and state funding, you’ll gain valuable experience in a dynamic and growing organization.
$21.00/hour, guaranteed 38 hours a week.
Essential Duties:
- General Accounting & Reconciliation
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing entries
- Generate internal financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, job-level reporting)
- Track and reconcile multiple bank accounts
- Assist in cash flow tracking and near-term forecasting
- Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Invoice subsidiaries for services rendered by the parent
- Maintain Due To and Due From subledgers
- Support invoicing to customers by subsidiaries as needed
- Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Reconcile vendor statements and manage payment schedules for the holding company
- Process check runs and manage ACH payments
- Support vendor payments and reconciliations for subsidiaries as needed
- Tax and Audit Support
- Work with tax preparer, parent company and subsidiary staff to provide tax schedules in support of K-1s and Form 1120 filings
- Prepare supporting schedules for parent company and subsidiaries in support of the annual audit
- Prepare consolidating entries for financial reporting
- Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure books meet GAAP standards and state/federal compliance
- Maintain audit-ready records for parent company and CES projects
- Track 1099 vendors and assist with year-end filings and reporting

Requirements:- Strong attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
- Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliation templates)
- Strong understanding of job costing, class/location tracking, and project billing
- Experience with payroll coordination and prevailing wage/timecard audits
- Familiarity with CES, union/scale-wage documentation, or certified payroll processes, is a plus.
- Experience managing fixed asset records including acquisition, disposition, and capitalization timing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information such as payroll, HR and customer data
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 50 lbs. Work environment will vary depending on the setting in which work is performed. Employee may be exposed to a variety of factors including outside weather conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, chemicals, and loud noises. Specific vision abilities include color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job successfully.
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including QuickBooks Payroll
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting preferred, but not required with equivalent experience or Bookkeeper certification
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test
