ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a pivotal time for IntermodeX Prince Rupert.

As we prepare for the opening of LinX Logistics Park in 2027, a purpose‑built, next‑generation logistics platform, this role will play a defining part in shaping the future of our Northern operations. LInX is a 30‑acre import transload and logistics park and represents a major evolution in how IntermodeX delivers integrated logistics solutions. The Regional Operations Manager will lead the organisation through one of the most significant operational transformations in our history—balancing day‑to‑day operational excellence with strategic readiness for this next phase of growth.

As Regional Operations Manager, you are accountable for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of our Prince Rupert business unit. You will provide senior operational leadership across all site activities, including import/export operations, transload services, customs exams, equipment, labour, maintenance, and customer service.

This role is responsible for driving operational performance, financial results, safety culture, and regulatory compliance, while supporting growth initiatives and maintaining strong relationships with customers, labour partners, port authorities, and regulatory agencies.

You will act as the senior company representative in Prince Rupert, setting the tone for leadership, accountability, and safety.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Operational Performance & Service Delivery – 30%

Oversee day‑to‑day terminal and yard operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery. Align operational plans, staffing models, and equipment deployment with volume forecasts and customer commitments. Drive continuous improvement in productivity, equipment utilization, cost control, and turnaround times. Ensure operating procedures, work instructions, and labour practices are consistently applied. Partner with customer and commercial teams to maintain service reliability and customer satisfaction. Work closely with the Transload Manager and supervisors to develop, communicate, and enforce terminal‑specific SOPs.

People Leadership & Development – 25%

Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of operational leaders and frontline employees. Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development. Build strong labour‑management relationships and ensure collective agreements are applied fairly and consistently. Foster accountability, engagement, and strong performance management across the site. Champion company values, leadership expectations, and culture.

Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) – 20%

Lead and champion a safety‑first culture across all Prince Rupert operations. Ensure compliance with company HSQE standards and all applicable regulations, including WorkSafeBC, Transport Canada, and port authority requirements. Work closely with HSQE teams to implement, monitor, and continuously improve safety programs. Lead incident investigations, ensure effective corrective actions, and proactively address trends to prevent recurrence. Promote environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance across all sites.

Financial & Business Performance – 15%

Manage operating expenses, labour costs, maintenance spend, and capital utilization. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range operating plans. Identify and implement opportunities to improve margins, efficiency, and return on assets. Provide clear performance reporting and insights to senior leadership.

Stakeholder & External Relations – 10%

Act as IntermodeX’s senior representative in Prince Rupert. Build and maintain strong relationships with port authorities, regulators, customers, vendors, and community stakeholders. Support growth initiatives, new business onboarding, and operational readiness for expanded services. Collaborate with corporate support teams to align site operations with broader company strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Experience & Knowledge

10–15 years of progressive operations leadership experience in terminals, intermodal, logistics, marine, or industrial environments. Proven experience leading large, safety‑critical, unionized operations. Strong financial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, and cost control. Demonstrated success leading change and driving continuous improvement in complex operating environments. Solid understanding of regulatory compliance, safety management systems, and labour relations. Post‑secondary education in business, engineering, operations management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Leadership & Capabilities

Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess performance and implement effective solutions. Ability to translate strategy into practical, executable operations. Proven people leader with experience coaching, mentoring, and developing teams. Confident decision‑maker with the ability to influence change across multiple stakeholders. Comfortable in hands‑on operational environments, including the ability to climb equipment and lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Communication

Comfortable with frequent, day‑to‑day communication with frontline and leadership teams. Skilled in customer‑facing interactions, maintaining professionalism and service excellence. Effective communicator with external partners, suppliers, regulators, and safety organisations.
