Job Description

Vernon Nissan is looking for a high-impact, people-first leader to step into the role of General Manager and drive the next chapter of our growth.

This is more than a dealership leadership role—it’s an opportunity to build a high-performing team, shape the customer experience, and lead a business that is deeply connected to its community. As part of the Steve Marshall Group, you’ll have the support, resources, and autonomy to make meaningful decisions, move quickly, and deliver results.

We’re looking for a leader who sets the tone—someone who leads from the front, builds trust with their team, and holds a high standard for performance, accountability, and culture. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and know how to align people, process, and profit, we want to hear from you.

Vernon Nissan is nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, where lifestyle and opportunity go hand in hand. Our dealership is built on a culture of respect, transparency, and local pride. We serve a loyal customer base who appreciate our honesty and expertise – and we’re proud to be a trusted name in the region.

We’re looking for people who value professionalism, positivity, and teamwork. At Vernon Nissan, you’ll find a supportive environment where your skills are appreciated, your input is valued, and your success is celebrated.

Role Summary:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the dealership. Financial & Operational Management

  • Monitor and manage dealership P&L, budgets, and financial performance to meet or exceed targets.
  • Ensure effective inventory management for both new and used vehicles.
  • Oversee expense control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM programs, incentive structures, and performance requirements.

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Drive sales growth across new, used, and F&I operations while maintaining strong gross margins.
  • Champion a customer-first culture, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, retention, and referral business.
  • Monitor and improve dealership processes to enhance efficiency and customer service.

Fixed Operations Oversight

  • Work closely with Service and Parts managers to maximize absorption, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Ensure service excellence, timely repairs, and high customer satisfaction scores.
  • Support initiatives that improve retention, including maintenance programs and service promotions.

People Management & Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across all departments.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear goals and expectations for managers and staff.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and inclusive workplace culture.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to provincial regulations, VSA, Fair Trading Act, and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain ethical practices, fraud prevention measures, and enforce compliance across all departments.
  • Safeguard dealership assets and reputation by mitigating risks proactively.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience as a General Manager or senior manager in automotive retail.
