Position Summary

This role leads day-to-day clinical operations and supervision for RNs across multiple ambulatory service lines in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The Practice Manager ensures high-quality, compliant, patient-centered care while supporting staff development, workflow optimization, and operational excellence.

The Practice Manager oversees the clinical and operational performance of RN staff across Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care. This leader ensures that care delivery meets performance standards, regulatory standards, supports population-health goals, and aligns with the organization’s mission to provide high quality care. This role partners closely with NP clinical leaders in each department who supervise and direct the clinical work of RNs at SBCHC.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Staff Management & Development

  • Lead performance management and operational supervision for RN staff in close collaboration with NP Clinical Leads, who provide clinical supervision and lead all RN clinical work.
  • Ensure performance management for RNs supports safe, high quality, patient centered care by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching and development, and delivering timely feedback—coordinated with NP Clinical Leads to align competency and clinical practice standards.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, competency assessments, and ongoing professional development for all RNs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing models, daily assignments, and cross coverage across service lines.

Operational Leadership

  • Direct daily RN operations across four ambulatory departments, ensuring consistent, efficient, and patient centered workflows.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor standardized clinical processes, and care team models.
  • Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and administrative leaders to optimize clinic flow, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor vaccine ordering and administration process, as well as medication ordering process and create operationally efficient and financially responsible methods of tracking and ordering these supplies to reduce waste and promote safety.
  • Identify other operational efficiencies that reduce cost while maintaining high quality care.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Support quality improvement initiatives, including chronic disease management, immunization programs, and preventive care workflows.
  • Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to prepare for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain RN staff compliance with clinical protocols related to immunizations, medication administration, controlled substances, and emergency preparedness.

Patient Experience & Care Coordination

  • Address patient concerns related to RN work and ensure timely resolution.
  • Is a member of the quality and safety team and is responsible for coordinating nursing related workflow changes that result from these meetings.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or in related field (RN strongly preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of ambulatory or primary care leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of ambulatory workflows, population health, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and change management skills.
  • Commitment to health equity and serving underserved communities.
