Position Summary
The WellFit Program Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all wellness and fitness programming at Sun City Lincoln Hills. This role manages a diverse portfolio of group exercise, wellness classes, Pilates Reformer, small group training, and specialty programs that support an active-adult community.
The Manager is responsible for program development, staffing, financial performance, compliance, resident engagement, and ensuring safe and high-quality experiences across the OC and KS Fitness Centers. This position carries Assistant Manager–level authority and serves as the programming lead in the Director’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Leadership and Workforce Management
*Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, and supervise wellness and fitness staff, including instructors and trainers
*Provide coaching, recognition, corrective action, and annual performance evaluations
*Administer payroll approval, monitor payroll accuracy, and maintain compensation spreadsheets
*Ensure staff are current on required certifications and fully trained on safety protocols, customer service, and departmental procedures
*Lead staff meetings and training sessions and ensure effective communication across both fitness centers
*Program and Class Portfolio Oversight
*Develop, implement, and evaluate the full WellFit class portfolio, including group exercise, Pilates Reformer, small group training, wellness programs, workshops, and orientations
*Track attendance, financials, evaluations, and trends to ensure programs meet resident needs and Association goals
*Stay current on industry trends to introduce innovative and sustainable programs appropriate for an active-adult population
*Ensure proper instructor coverage, review NetGym for approval requests, and serve as substitute instructor as needed
*Oversee program listings for Compass Magazine, website updates, and NorthStar scheduling
Financial and Administrative Accountability
*Compile and analyze monthly revenue and participation reports for group exercise, Reformer, and wellness programs
*Provide recommendations on pricing, instructor compensation, and program adjustments
*Oversee class-related invoices, departmental records, and file management
*Operational and Facility Support
*Support daily operations across OC and KS Fitness Centers, assisting front desk staff as needed
*Respond to resident inquiries regarding equipment, wellness offerings, and fitness center usage
*Conduct monthly fitness center orientations to promote engagement and safe facility use
*Submit and follow up on maintenance work orders and monitor equipment conditions
*Provide guidance to facility monitors regarding procedures and issue resolution
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
*Partner with the Events Coordinator on WellFit programs, resident activities, and community wellness events
*Contribute to long-term program planning, scheduling, and departmental initiatives
*Support departmental cross-collaboration to maintain consistency and alignment with Association standards
*Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
*Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, Recreation, or related field; or equivalent experience
*Nationally recognized fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent)
*Group exercise and Pilates Reformer certification required
*Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
*Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in fitness, wellness, or recreation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with active-adult or senior fitness populations preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fitness management platforms (NetGym, NorthStar, Mindbody)
*Strong organizational, analytical, financial reporting, and problem-solving skills
*Excellent verbal and written (English) communication abilities
*Effective coach and mentor with strong motivational skills
*Strategic thinker able to align programs with community needs and organizational goals
*Diplomatic and professional when addressing resident concerns
*Collaborative, adaptable, and resilient in a fast-paced environment
