POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and serve as a key member of the accounting team. This role is responsible for owning full-cycle accounting for Burn Retail, LLC and Kline Franchising, LLC, managing inventory accounting, and supporting a broad range of accounting operations and improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, high attention to detail, and a proactive mindset for identifying and solving problems. This role is primarily in-office Monday through Thursday at our Burn Boot Camp Headquarters in Cornelius, NC, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- Monthly full-cycle accounting for Burn Retail, LLC and Kline Franchising, LLC
- Accounting support for additional entities on an as-needed basis
- Inventory accounting and management for Burn Retail
- Annual physical inventory count attendance (December)
- Ad hoc accounting clean-up and process improvement projects
- Serve as the Controller's primary accounting resource and right-hand on department initiatives
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute the full monthly accounting cycle for Burn Retail, LLC and Kline Franchising, LLC, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting records for Burn Retail; ensure proper cost tracking and reconciliation.
- Minimal travel required (approximately 10%) for annual physical inventory counts at fulfillment center locations.
- Partner with the Controller on ad hoc accounting projects, including account clean-up, process redesign, and system improvements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across departments to ensure complete and accurate financial data.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation as needed for audits, reviews, and internal reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close
- Experience managing accounting for multiple entities or subsidiaries, including intercompany transactions, preferred
- NetSuite experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel required
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively across departments
