Why You'll Love Working With Us:
Function was founded with a singular focus: empower you to live 100 healthy years. We’re doing that by using the best available technology to make sure people don't suffer or die a preventable death. Function has been recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024, and is venture-backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). Hundreds of thousands of members have joined Function to take control of their health. We are growing our team and seeking out world-class talent that deeply believes in our mission to positively impact global health, has a relentless bias toward action and a growth mindset. Function fosters a collaborative and dynamic environment, where every day we are building the future.
We’re looking for an Operations Lead to join our rapidly growing consumer health tech startup. This individual will be focusing on optimizing and managing processes that ensure smooth, day-to-day operations. This role will be responsible for supporting the daily operations and partnership support for one of our third-party lab partners.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for triaging and escalating operational issues, helping to track and report performance metrics, and contributing to the optimization of existing processes. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the execution of high-quality, reliable operations that meet both internal and external expectations.
The ideal candidate will be meticulous in their attention to detail, self-starter, a problem solver and critical thinker, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. As an early member of our team, your contributions will play a critical role in shaping the future of our systems as we scale from tens of thousands of members to millions.
This role is best suited for those energized by fast-paced environments, excited to build in a high-growth setting, and deeply motivated by our mission at Function. If you're looking for meaningful challenges, dynamic work, and the opportunity to make a real impact—we’d love to meet you.
- Support Daily Operations: Execute and maintain day-to-day operational workflows with a focus on reliability, accuracy, and timeliness in collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Issue Triage and Resolution: Monitor and triage operational issues, coordinate with internal teams to troubleshoot, and escalate when needed to minimize disruption.
- Data Tracking and Reporting: Collaborate with internal team members by supporting data collection and analyzing lab trends that impact member experience.
- Process Maintenance and Optimization: Assist in identifying inefficiencies in lab operations workflows and suggest improvements to drive efficiency, consistency, and scale.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, operations, and product teams to support the implementation of new processes and communicate operational needs.
- Documentation and SOPs: Maintain up-to-date documentation for operational procedures and support the development of new standard operating procedures as needed.
- 5+ years of experience in operations roles with a proven track record of leading teams and scaling processes in fast-paced environments.
- Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, logistics, or similarly regulated, process-driven fields.
- Comfortable managing operational challenges, proactively identifying issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to find solutions.

- Clear and effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments is a plus.

- Prior education or experience in the health and medical space strongly preferred
- Start-up experience, particularly in early-stage technology companies.
- Familiarity with healthcare or wellness industry design considerations.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Google Sheets and Excel), CRM systems, and ability to learn internal tools
- Ruthless Prioritization:

- We clear paths for each other and move fast together.
- We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals.
- Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution:
- We don’t just ship—we own outcomes and drive results.
- We act with urgency and precision.
