About the Role:
The Drywaller for Manufactured Housing plays a critical role in the construction and finishing of manufactured homes by expertly installing drywall panels to create smooth, durable interior walls and ceilings. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that all drywall surfaces meet quality standards and are prepared for subsequent finishing processes such as taping, mudding, and painting. The role involves working closely with construction teams to interpret blueprints and specifications, ensuring that drywall installation aligns with design requirements and safety regulations. The Drywaller must efficiently manage time and materials to meet production schedules while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of manufactured housing units, enhancing customer satisfaction and company reputation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a drywaller, preferably in manufactured housing or residential construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.
- Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and installing drywall panels accurately.
- Knowledge of drywall finishing techniques including taping, mudding, and sanding.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces.
- Familiarity with workplace safety standards and use of personal protective equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working specifically in manufactured housing environments.
- Basic carpentry skills to assist with framing or minor structural adjustments.
- Ability to operate drywall lifts and other specialized equipment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and install drywall panels on walls and ceilings within manufactured housing units according to blueprints and specifications.
- Apply joint tape, compound, and sanding to seams and fasteners to create a smooth, finished surface ready for painting or wallpapering.
- Inspect installed drywall for defects or damage and perform necessary repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with construction supervisors and other tradespeople to coordinate drywall installation with other phases of home assembly.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition to comply with workplace safety standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment to minimize risk of injury on the job site.
- Manage inventory of drywall materials and report supply needs to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
Skills:
The required skills such as precise measuring, cutting, and installation of drywall are essential for creating structurally sound and visually appealing interior surfaces in manufactured homes. Proficiency in finishing techniques like taping and mudding ensures that walls and ceilings are smooth and ready for final decoration, which directly impacts the quality of the finished product. Reading and interpreting blueprints allows the drywaller to understand project specifications and execute work accurately, minimizing errors and rework. Physical stamina and safety awareness are critical daily as the role involves manual labor and working in potentially confined or elevated spaces. Preferred skills, including carpentry knowledge and equipment operation, enhance efficiency and versatility, enabling the drywaller to contribute more broadly to the construction process and adapt to varying project demands. Pay is negotiable based on experience.
