About This Position
Home Resource Coach- CONNECT
Join our team to make a difference to British Columbians after brain injury and stroke!
We’re looking for an awesome person to join our team as Home Resource Coach - CONNECT Parksville, a brand-new location for CONNECT. As a guest on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations, which is home to the Snaw-Naw-As First Nation and the Qualicum First Nation, you will have the important job of representing CONNECT and building strong community relationships as a good neighbor, partner and friend, so we walk this important journey together.
GREAT PEOPLE, OUTSTANDING SERVICES:
To help people redesign their lives after brain injury or stroke we need great people who share our values, breathe our culture, believe in our mission and vision, and feel a sense of purpose in their work as they contribute to making lives better. They value open, honest communication, are willing to support, encourage and challenge themselves and others to be better, and they have a desire to learn and grow to be the best they can be for the people we serve.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Home Resource Coach is part of an inter-professional team working to provide an inclusive learning environment in which people are supported in their life redesign journey; to achieve their highest level of functional ability; to become as independent as possible; and to be able to contribute and participate in meaningful ways in their own lives, homes and communities.
The focus of the Home Resource Coach is to ensure the buildings, and all CONNECT-related vehicles, systems and services remain operational. The Home Resource Coach is responsible for the general upkeep of the property inside and out. The start date for this role is dependent on the building renovations completing, so we are looking for someone who is flexible. We hope to have an exact start date by the time we hold interviews.
The Home Resource Coach will have the lead role in the ongoing development, training, and maintenance of CONNECT Parksville’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Program and will take the lead in ensuring appropriate systems and services are in place to preserve the day-to-day safety of the people we support and our coaches.
Daily upkeep of the homes is a large part of the role and encompasses a variety of activities ranging from spot cleaning and installing wall-mounted TVs to larger jobs such as painting bedrooms and purchasing and installing new appliances. In some cases the Home Resource Coach will complete smaller repair and renovations jobs, and in other cases, they will take all the necessary steps to engage outside contractors.
An additional part of the role includes limited personal and building IT and systems support as well as 24/7 call-outs and problem solving as required.
The Home Resource Coach will look for appropriate opportunities to encourage and engage the people we support to be included and involved in building and home maintenance (e.g., helping build furniture, do small repairs, paint rooms). This type of engagement is an example of how we weave Life Redesign into the everyday.
