About the Cloud Architect role

Reporting to Manager, IT Infrastructure & Cloud Operations, the Cloud Architect provides strategic architectural leadership and design for ANBL’s Azure cloud environment, which supports enterprise platforms, such as Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and other integrations and data services.

The role defines high‑level cloud architecture standards, ensures alignment with organizational strategy, and enables secure, scalable and reliable cloud operations across the enterprise working with other enterprise architecture functions.

Acting as a key link between business and technical teams, the Cloud Architect translates business needs into cloud‑ready architectural approaches, provides technical guidance across initiatives, and contributes to governance practices that strengthen consistency and quality in cloud design and delivery. 

Additional Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architecture efforts to address complex business and operational needs, shaping high‑level Azure designs and reusable patterns that support ANBL’s enterprise platforms, including Dynamics 365. 
• Evaluate solution options to ensure alignment with ANBL’s mission, strategy, capabilities, standards, and long‑term technology direction 
• Leading cloud migration projects, solution design and plan to ensuring smooth transfer of workloads from on-premises systems cloud 
• Guide the design and deployment of cloud architectures, ensuring appropriate principles, expectations, and structures are in place and risks are identified and mitigated 

• Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, translating requirements and presenting architectural options in accessible, business‑focused terms 
• Develop practical end‑to‑end cloud architecture approaches, supporting secure, scalable, resilient services across retail, warehousing, and corporate environments 
• Assess technology choices against ANBL’s target cloud architecture, identifying gaps and recommending improvements 
• Stay current with cloud and emerging technologies, providing recommendations that enhance reliability, performance, efficiency, and value 
• Collaborate across multiple teams and initiatives, offering architectural leadership and advisory support to enterprise, solution, data, cybersecurity, and engineering teams 
• Mentor and coach technical team members, promoting architectural best practices and quality 
• Contribute to cloud architecture governance, including methods, decision frameworks, and compliance practices that strengthen consistency and control

What do you need to be successful? 

• Post‑secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline 
• Cloud architecture or security certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer) are an asset 

• 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related technical leadership roles 
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud architecture, security, identity, networking, and operational patterns 
• Experience designing or supporting enterprise platforms in the cloud, including Dynamics 365 or similar business applications 
• Ability to translate business and technology needs into high‑level architectural approaches 
• Knowledge of modern cloud practices (automation, observability, resiliency, governance) 
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities 
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate adoption paths 

Would be an asset if you had:   

• ITIL Foundations certification preferred 
• Architecture-related training or certifications (e.g. TOGAF), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ_305) 
• Azure Administrator Associate certification 
• Hybrid/Multi-Cloud Networking: Experience designing connectivity between on-premises and public cloud (Azure)

Work location:

• The Retail Operations Centre is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
• The successful candidate must be based in New Brunswick, remote work is possible.
• Semi-regular travel for meetings and project work may be required.

Compensation information:

• $ 88,369 - $102,487
