Job Description

Staff Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Designer based in Canada.

This is an opportunity for a senior product designer to shape the foundations of a growing digital platform through scalable, thoughtful, and impactful design systems.
The role focuses on building and evolving systems that improve consistency, accessibility, and product quality across teams.
You will work closely with product and engineering partners to bridge the gap between design vision and real-world implementation.
As a key design leader, you will influence how teams collaborate, make decisions, and deliver meaningful user experiences.
You will also mentor designers, establish best practices, and help connect design craftsmanship with measurable business outcomes.
This fully remote role offers the chance to contribute to products that directly improve financial wellness for employees.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the evolution and governance of the design system, including components, tokens, patterns, documentation, and collaboration processes with engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with engineers to ensure design quality is maintained through implementation, helping translate concepts into production-ready experiences.
  • Write and review HTML, CSS, and React code when needed to reduce gaps between design specifications and shipped products.
  • Establish and maintain standards for interaction design, accessibility, and visual consistency across the product ecosystem.
  • Conduct audits, identify inconsistencies between design intent and live experiences, and create solutions to continuously improve the product.
  • Mentor designers through structured feedback, helping strengthen design practices, problem-solving approaches, and execution quality.
  • Connect design decisions to business goals by demonstrating how user experience improvements contribute to activation, retention, and revenue outcomes.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of product design experience, including significant experience in growth-focused, experimentation-driven, or outcome-oriented product environments.
  • Proven experience designing, launching, and iterating on experiments that improved user adoption, activation, or engagement metrics.
  • Strong background in creating and managing scalable design systems, including component architecture, design tokens, and practical documentation.
  • Front-end development fluency, with the ability to read and write production-level HTML, CSS, and React and confidently collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Strong systems thinking skills, with the ability to understand how individual design decisions influence broader product patterns and business outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience building effective partnerships across design, engineering, product management, and business teams.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and create alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset and willingness to challenge assumptions, learn continuously, and help teams improve their ways of working.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of CA$140K–CA$196K, with additional commission opportunities and a CA$23K bonus program.
  • Fully remote work environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Flexible paid time off program with up to 6 weeks of vacation.
  • Medical, vision, and dental benefits starting from the first day of employment.
  • Enhanced mental health coverage and wellness support.
  • Inclusive parental leave top-up program.
  • Earned wage access and transparent salary practices supported by real-time market data.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, continuous learning, and meaningful career development.
  • A collaborative and supportive culture focused on building impactful products.
