Accountabilities:

The Software Engineering Operations Specialist will own the implementation, optimization, and automation of software development operations, ensuring teams have effective processes and tools to support high-quality delivery.

  • Implement and maintain a unified software development lifecycle (SDLC) across multiple software applications and engineering teams.
  • Translate SDLC standards into practical workflows, configurations, and processes within engineering tools.
  • Configure and manage Jira projects, issue structures, workflows, permissions, dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Jira and Confluence, ensuring platforms remain scalable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation, templates, dashboards, and reporting structures to improve visibility and collaboration.
  • Design and optimize workflow automation to reduce manual processes, improve traceability, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Build integrations between Jira, Confluence, Productboard, and related platforms to improve alignment between product planning and execution.
  • Manage Productboard configurations, including features, initiatives, components, views, and synchronization with engineering workflows.
  • Audit tool usage and partner with engineering teams to identify process gaps and implement improvements.
  • Develop practical guidance, training materials, and hands-on support to help teams adopt new workflows and tools.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards that provide insights into delivery performance, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage AI automation capabilities to enhance reporting, operational efficiency, and engineering processes.
  • Support onboarding and integration of newly acquired engineering teams and help consolidate tools and processes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering operations experience, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to improve processes through automation and collaboration.

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering operations, engineering management, program management, or similar operational roles.
  • Deep hands-on experience administering Jira and Confluence in complex software engineering environments.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining Jira workflows, automation rules, dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices and how engineering teams operate in real-world environments.
  • Experience working directly with engineers, product teams, and technical leaders to solve workflow and tooling challenges.
  • Ability to independently manage configurations, prioritize improvements, and make operational decisions.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to create clear guidance and support team adoption.
  • Advanced knowledge of Jira automation, including complex rules, conditional logic, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience with Productboard administration and Jira-to-product management integrations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Kanban, hybrid delivery models, DevOps, QA, or software development practices is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting tool consolidation initiatives, including post-acquisition environments, is highly valued.
  • Experience implementing AI-based automation solutions is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed, and globally collaborative environment.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual base compensation of CAD 130,000 to CAD 140,000, depending on location, experience, and expertise.
  • Fully remote work flexibility across Canada, with options to work in-office or hybrid where applicable.
  • Flexible working arrangements designed to support productivity and work-life balance.
  • Robust wellness benefits, including an annual wellness stipend.
  • Flexible and generous paid time off, including volunteer days and floating holidays.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program.
  • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with a 4% company match.
  • Opportunity to collaborate with global teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Career growth opportunities within a technology-focused and innovation-driven environment.
