INTRODUCTION
Are you a student or recent graduate with a keen interest in digital investigations and forensic technology? iDiscovery Solutions (iDS) is looking for a Digital Forensics Intern to join our team in Washington, DC and gain hands-on experience in this dynamic field!
FORENSICS INTERN JOB INTRODUCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intern will be a valuable contributor to the Digital Forensics team based. This position will be expected to be in the office and assist the team in managing the intake, evidence and lab tasks for the Washington, DC office. Under supervision, this position works closely with project owners and consulting departments to ensure accurate documentation and process flow for all incoming and outgoing data.
This person must be in the Washington, DC area and will be expected to be in the office during your schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of consultants, collect and image electronic data from a variety of electronic media, including desktops, laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc.
- Use data mining tools to search, sort, and organize large amounts of electronic information
- Manage the organization’s data including staging, hygiene, disposition, and drive inventory
- Create and maintain appropriate documentation to include events such as chain of custody
- Maintain inventory and management of the evidence room; oversee the release, destruction, and subsequent paperwork
Additional Responsibilities:
- Submit time in accordance with company policy
Qualifications:
- Coursework in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, or similar field
- Understanding of one or more forensics tools such as Nuix, Magnet Axiom, EnCase, or FTK preferred
- Any experience or familiarity with programming languages (i.e., Python, SQL, C#, etc)
- Understanding of forensic software, evidence preservation, collection, and documentation a plus
- Eagerness to learn and a passion for problem-solving
Candidates Likely to Succeed
- Possess impeccable problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills with a solid understanding of core project management principles, particularly in providing litigation support services
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, effectively managing many details
- Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
- Positive attitude with a desire and willingness to solve problems
- The ability to seek out answers in the absence of formal direction
- Flexibility regarding work schedule to meet position needs outside of regular business hours
- Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without an accommodation
Working Location & Conditions:
- Hybrid; Requires in-office presence based on availability
- Home office should be a quiet and professional space that can be used for virtual meetings (that include video as needed) and maintain client confidentiality.
Salary: $20/hour paid bi-monthly - the 1st and 16th of every month.
