Mission Security Coordinator
Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Work Arrangement: Full-time, on-site
Clearance: ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE FROM U.S. OR NATO MEMBER NATION REQUIRED
The Opportunity
Ironclad Defense Works is seeking a Mission Security Coordinator to support NATO Allied Command Transformation’s Office of Security in Norfolk, Virginia. This position will provide dedicated security-planning, travel-risk, Force Protection, and event-security support for HQ SACT personnel conducting official travel and participating in high-profile events throughout the world.
This role requires a professional who can assess travel and event risks, analyze open-source and classified security information, develop security plans and briefings, conduct site surveys, coordinate with law enforcement and intelligence organizations, and provide on-site security support for senior NATO engagements and missions.
Key Responsibilities
This position requires an active National SECRET (or higher) security clearance from the U.S. or a NATO member nation. Applicants who do not possess the clearance specified above cannot be considered at this time.
Compensation
Compensation for this position ranges from $105,000 - $135,000 annually. Final salary will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills, qualifications, location, contract requirements, and overall affordability.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze NATO travel information to identify high-risk destinations and critical travel locations.
- Collect and assess OSINT, classified reporting, and local security information.
- Develop individualized traveler security briefings and risk-mitigation guidance.
- Develop security plans for high-risk missions and events.
- Conduct security risk assessments and site-security surveys.
- Evaluate vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation measures.
- Assess non-NATO attendees for potential counterintelligence risk.
- Prepare senior-leader security briefs.
- Support security operations at Diamond Events and external missions.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, intelligence agencies, emergency responders, international organizations, and security partners.
- Support registration and Delegate Assistance Centers during events.
- Prepare after-action reports and lessons-learned products.
- Maintain NATO-compliant security documentation.
- Provide briefings and consultations to NATO leadership and internal stakeholders.
- At least five years of experience in security administration, risk management, criminology, public administration, industrial security, or a related field.
- Experience must include responsibility for planning and executing security operations for high-profile events, international travel, or multinational operations.
- At least three years of experience planning and managing security for major events involving VIPs, senior leaders, or large-scale international operations.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and security site surveys.
- Experience coordinating with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and emergency responders.
- Recognized certification in risk management or a relevant security discipline, such as PMP, CRMP, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze OSINT and classified/unclassified security information.
- Experience developing security briefings, risk assessments, and incident reports for senior leadership and operational personnel.
- Strong senior-stakeholder engagement and mission-coordination skills.
- Professional English proficiency.
- Active security clearance issued by a NATO member nation.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, security databases, SharePoint, Teams, and online research tools.
- Counterterrorism or crisis-management certification.
- Prior NATO Force Protection experience.
- Executive/VIP protection planning experience.
- International travel-security experience.
- Intelligence or counterintelligence background.
- Experience coordinating multinational security operations.
- Experience supporting diplomatic, military, or government high-profile events.
