Supervisor, Surgery Process at St. Claire Regional Medical Center – Morehead, Kentucky

Responsible for providing technical support by ensuring all equipment, materials, and instruments are operable and available for surgical procedures. Prepares surgical rooms and trains providers in proper setup and use of equipment and instrumentation. Collaborates with Central Sterile Processing and communicates with outside vendors for assigned specialty areas. Maintains active communication among interdepartmental staff, physicians, and service line team members. Functions in the scrub role as needed to facilitate efficient surgical case flow.

Essential Functions:

• Facilitates patient flow and case organization within individual service lines.

• Coordinates timely communication and updates regarding patient care with other units and departments.

• Ensures on-time case starts for elective and urgent/emergency procedures.

• Maintains preference card accuracy and supports surgeon onboarding processes.

• Monitors availability and allocation of key supplies, equipment, and clinical resources, ensuring maintenance is performed.

• Assists with recruitment, orientation, retention, and competency assessment of staff in collaboration with the Service Line Manager.

• Participates in staff scheduling, deployment, and resource planning to meet departmental needs.

• Identifies and addresses patient and service issues, collaborating to improve care quality and clinical outcomes.

• This role includes direct supervisory responsibilities.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:

High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area

Experience Requirement:

0-4 years of relevant supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and supervisory/team lead experience typically required

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Certifications & Licensures:

Certified Surgical Technician Preferred
