About This Position
The Team Lead, Surgical Services, is responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth flow of quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the daily functions of their service: This involves overseeing scheduling, pre-paring the room for procedures, and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
• Lead daily briefings: Before each surgery, the team lead conducts briefings to discuss the procedure plan, potential risks and complications, and assign roles and responsibilities to the surgical team.
• Provide guidance and support to staff: This includes assigning tasks, orienting new nurses to equipment and procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Assist the anesthesia staff: The team lead collaborates with the anesthesiologist to en-sure proper patient monitoring, manage anesthesia levels, and respond to any issues that arise during the procedure.
• Facilitate collaboration and communication: Open and honest communication is crucial in the OR. The team lead fosters a culture of open communication, encouraging team members to voice concerns or suggestions and promoting respectful dialogue.
• Monitor team performance and provide feedback: The team lead assesses team mem-bers' performance, identifies areas for improvement, and offers constructive feedback to enhance skills and optimize team dynamics.
• Promote professional development and growth: Team leads encourage continuous learn-ing and growth by identifying training opportunities, providing mentorship, and creating development plans for team members.
• Problem-solving and adaptability: The OR environment can be unpredictable. Team leads must be able to think on their feet, troubleshoot problems, and adapt quickly to changing situations.
• Clinical knowledge and experience within the surgical setting: Familiarity with surgical procedures, instruments, and potential complications is essential for providing guidance and support to the team
