About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
-
The Manager of Anesthesia Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of anesthesia operations. This includes managing daily workflows, provider scheduling, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and resource utilization. The manager acts as a key liaison between anesthesia providers, perioperative leadership, nursing staff, and hospital administration to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered anesthesia care. This role requires strong operational leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to supporting a collaborative team environment in a community-focused setting.

Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:
- Coordinate and manage anesthesia services across multiple departments
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and protocols for anesthesia operations
- Ensure appropriate anesthesia coverage for scheduled and emergent procedures. Ensure coverage grids/models according to CMS regulations for coverage of anesthetizing rooms in a medically supervised model
- Manage scheduling for anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and anesthesia techs
- Recruit, onboard, and supervise anesthesia personnel
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing staff development
- Facilitate continuing education and credentialing compliance
- Resolve staffing issues or interpersonal conflicts
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, TJC, CMS and other regulatory agencies. Also maintains compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Monitor and improve quality metrics, patients safety outcomes and customer satisfaction scores (NRC)
- Lead performance improvement activities when adverse events occur
- Oversee documentation accuracy for anesthesia records and billing in collaboration with the finance department. Collaborates with providers and IST to improve documentation in EPIC and/or other medical record processes
- Develop and manage the anesthesia department budget
- Oversee procurement and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies, project future capital needs
- Monitor, analyze and act upon billing, coding and reimbursement issues related to anesthesia services
- Identify cost-savings opportunities while maintaining high standards of care
- Collaborate with surgical services, nursing and hospital administration to align goals
- Participate in perioperative leadership meetings, performance improvement initiatives, and OR governance
- Forecast future needs based on case volume trends and surgical expansion
- Implement new technologies, service lines and protocols as needed

Minimum requirement:
-
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nurse Anesthesia and Certified or eligible for certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetist.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of KY and State of OH, or other applicable NLC state.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications.
- Demonstrates skills in leadership, communication, finance/budgeting, marketing, physician relations and customer service.
- Strong communication skills required along with solid organizational and problem solving skills.
- Preferred 3 years progressive experience in a healthcare leadership or operations role, preferably in perioperative or anesthesia services.
- Knowledge of anesthesia workflows, clinical best practices and healthcare regulations
- Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in managing functions/departments located across multiple sites that have matrixed reporting relationships.
- Knowledge of current approaches to the delivery of anesthesia care.

- Completion of UKKD LEAD Academy.
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA), business (MBA), or nursing (MSN)
- Experience working in a community hospital
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EPIC) and anesthesia documentation systems

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
