Job Description
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and identify qualified candidates.
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract diverse talent.
- Conduct background checks, pre-employment screenings, and employment eligibility verifications.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
- Support employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and terminations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, District of Columbia, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with policy administration and recommend updates aligned with best practices and legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with benefits regulations, including COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and Workers’
- Partner with internal stakeholders on employee compliance requirements and audits.
- Benefits, Leave, & Payroll Support
- Administer employee benefits programs, leave of absence processes, and time and attendance management.
- Support the Finance department with payroll preparation, audits, and related employee data management.
- Serve as a resource to employees regarding benefits, leave, and payroll inquiries.
- Support performance management initiatives, employee recognition efforts, and professional development programs.
- Assist in strengthening employee engagement, morale, and organizational culture initiatives.
- Participate in staff recognition and retention strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and People Operations documentation.
- Stay informed on HR trends, compliance updates, and emerging technologies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across People Operations systems and workflows.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive Human Resources or People Operations experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
- Experience administering employee benefits, leave programs, and employee relations processes.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and District of Columbia employment laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and Workers’ Compensation.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
- Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) certification preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit, human services, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
- Experience supporting trauma-informed workplaces or vulnerable populations preferred.
- Ability to travel locally throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia for job fairs, recruiting events, and organizational needs.
- Salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 – $85,000 annually.
