Position Summary

Vision Quest Solutions is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide inpatient pediatric medical-surgical care at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility in Chinle, Arizona.

This position is within the Pediatric Care Unit (PCU), not the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Nurses will provide compassionate, culturally respectful care to pediatric patients while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

The initial contract period is three months, with the potential for seven additional three-month extensions, for a total contract duration of up to two years.

Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of pediatric medical-surgical nursing care.
  • Assess patients and develop individualized, goal-oriented plans of care.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effects, side effects, and complications.
  • Recognize changes in patient conditions and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Review clinical results and translate findings into appropriate patient care.
  • Accurately document care using the facility’s electronic health record system.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and families.
  • Provide culturally respectful care to American Indian patients and their families.
  • Participate in interfacility patient transports when required.
  • Follow IHS, Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility-specific policies and procedures.
  • Provide clinical guidance to other staff and assist with required unit quality checks.
  • Rotate into other duty areas when necessary to support patient-care needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
  • Minimum of 36 months of professional nursing experience.
  • At least 12 months of pediatric or closely related specialty nursing experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Ability to satisfy all credentialing, health, immunization, and background requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course certification.
  • Relevant nursing specialty certification.
  • Previous pediatric medical-surgical experience.
  • Previous IHS, tribal health, or rural healthcare experience.
Work Schedule
  • Seven shifts during each two-week period.
  • Day shift: 11.5 working hours with a one-hour lunch.
  • Night shift: 12 working hours with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Schedule may include rotating days and nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Approximately 520 hours per three-month contract period.
  • Flexibility to work in other duty areas based on patient-care needs may be required.
Contract Information

  • Potential for seven additional three-month extensions.
  • Total potential contract duration of up to two years.

Qualified applicants must be prepared to provide:

  • Current resume
  • Copy of nursing degree or diploma
  • Current unrestricted RN license
  • Current AHA BLS certification
  • Current AHA PALS certification
  • Documentation confirming the required nursing and pediatric specialty experience
  • Copies of any additional professional certifications
