Location: Verona, PA
Schedule: Part-Time Weekends, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is committed to helping individuals with disabilities lead meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives. We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

As a DSP, you will provide person-centered support to adults with developmental disabilities while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and personal growth.

About the Program

The Mainstay Western PA Program is a supervised, community-based residential program serving adults with developmental disabilities and problematic sexual behaviors. Through established and innovative rehabilitation strategies, the program focuses on:

  • Community and personal safety
  • Accountability and responsibility
  • Skill development and competence
  • Least restrictive alternatives
  • Normalization and community integration
  • Due process and individual rights
Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals in a residential setting. This role assists participants with daily living activities, encourages independence, supports community engagement, and contributes to a safe, positive, and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Promote independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making.
  • Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
  • Encourage participation in social, recreational, and community activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of services provided and individual progress.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals served, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals at all times.
  • Follow agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Must successfully complete required background and motor vehicle record checks.
