About the role
At Fresh Clinics, our Commercial Finance Lead sits at the intersection of strategy and execution in a business that's moving fast. We're operating across Australia and the US, and building the finance function to match our ambition to become the number one Medical Infrastructure as a Service company in both markets.
This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CFO. You aren't just here to score the decision after it's made, you are the finance voice in the room while it's being made, giving our leadership team the clarity they need to move quickly and back themselves.
What you'll doThe Commercial Partner
- Embedded, not adjacent: You sit alongside Sales, Operations, and Clinical Leadership as their primary finance partner, present in the decision, not just reviewing it afterwards.
- Drive profitable growth: Own revenue and margin analytics across our clinic network and product lines, identify where we're winning, where we're leaking, and what lever fixes it.
- Price and product discipline: Partner with commercial leadership on pricing strategy, product mix, and customer economics, translating what looks good commercially into what's actually accretive.
- Supplier commercial lens: Understand the commercial architecture of our supplier relationships, rebate structures, volume incentives, margin flow-through, and help us negotiate from a position of insight.
- Make the uncomfortable call: When a product, channel, or market isn't working, you're the person who says so clearly and backs it with objective analysis.
The Insight Generator
- Unit economics obsession: Develop a granular view of clinic-level, channel-level, and geography-level economics — what does it cost to serve a customer, what do they generate, and where's the long-term margin in this business?
- AU vs. US lens: Maintain a clear-eyed view of the two markets, they have different cost structures, growth profiles, and margin dynamics, and you hold that picture for the CFO and leadership team.
- Performance frameworks: Design the KPIs and commercial scorecard that give the business a single, agreed view of what good looks like, and flag early when we're drifting off track.
- Translate, don't just report: Your output isn't a spreadsheet, it's a point of view. You turn financial data into commercial insight that drives action.
The Strategic Advisor
- Strategic initiatives: From new revenue streams to operational improvement programs, you're the finance lead on projects that sit outside the normal run of business, from framing the question to tracking the outcome.
- Scenario planning: Give the CFO and executive team the range of outcomes, not just the base case. When we're making a material capital allocation decision, you've already stress-tested the downside.
- Build the function: As the team scales, you'll help shape what commercial finance looks like at Fresh, the processes, the cadences, the standards and people. You're not just doing the work, you're setting it up to outlast you.
- 8–10 years of progressive finance experience with meaningful time owning commercial finance, FP&A, or strategic finance responsibilities. You've been in the room, not just prepared the pack for it.
- Proven track record partnering with senior commercial leaders to influence real decisions, not just report on them.
- Strong analytical capability with advanced modelling, scenario analysis, and the ability to cut to the number that matters.
- Exposure to high-growth, multi-entity, or PE-backed environments; healthcare or MedTech are a strong plus.
- A communicator who can hold a room with operational leaders and present to executive teams; you simplify without dumbing down, and you're confident enough to push back.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, you're walking into a finance function that's still maturing, and you create structure rather than wait for it.
