This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, Global Sales based in the United States.
This executive role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a global commercial organization across multiple product portfolios in the life sciences and diagnostics sector. You will own the worldwide sales strategy, revenue performance, and market expansion agenda, with significant influence on long-term growth. Leading senior sales leaders across regions, you will build a high-performing culture centered on accountability, customer success, and commercial excellence. You’ll work closely with Product, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, Operations, Finance, and other executive stakeholders to bring growth strategies and new products to market. The role combines strategic leadership with direct engagement across key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders. It is well suited to an accomplished commercial executive who thrives in complex, regulated markets and can translate global strategy into measurable results.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global sales strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives and long-term business plans.
- Establish and deliver quarterly, annual, and long-term revenue targets while creating clear accountability across the global sales organization.
- Lead commercial planning, including forecasting, budgeting, territory design, market prioritization, headcount planning, and resource allocation.
- Identify and prioritize new markets, customer segments, distribution channels, strategic partnerships, and geographic expansion opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and industry developments to continuously refine commercial strategy.
- Partner with Product Management, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, and other functions to support successful product launches and commercialization initiatives.
- Provide strategic leadership across domestic and international sales organizations, ensuring consistent processes, expectations, methodologies, and performance standards.
- Build, develop, retain, and succession-plan a high-performing team of senior sales leaders and commercial talent.
- Establish a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement.
- Drive consistent adoption of CRM systems, sales methodologies, performance standards, analytics, and best practices across regions.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and oversee forecasting, pipeline visibility, sales analytics, commercial dashboards, and performance reporting.
- Optimize sales processes and compensation structures to improve productivity, efficiency, customer experience, and revenue outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with strategic customers, key opinion leaders, distributors, channel partners, and major industry stakeholders.
- Serve as an executive sponsor for critical accounts and strategic partnerships and support significant commercial negotiations.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, customer meetings, leadership forums, and business development events.
- Ensure voice-of-customer insights and market feedback inform strategic planning, product development, and commercialization priorities.
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, Commercial Operations, Legal, Supply Chain, Quality, and other functions on business planning and strategic initiatives.
- Support mergers and acquisitions, strategic growth projects, commercialization programs, annual operating plans, and long-range planning.
- Own global sales revenue performance and annual sales target achievement.
- Develop and optimize global sales compensation and incentive programs in partnership with Finance and HR to attract, motivate, and retain top sales talent.
- Manage sales budgets and headcount plans while optimizing investment and resource allocation for maximum return.
- Ensure appropriate governance around pricing, discounting, and commercial decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related discipline is required; an MBA or advanced business degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience with a demonstrated record of increasing responsibility and commercial achievement.
- Proven experience leading senior sales executives and multi-region, multi-product sales organizations within life sciences, diagnostics, biotechnology, medical devices, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing global growth strategies that generate measurable revenue expansion and market growth.
- Strong understanding of direct sales, distributor networks, channel management, strategic partnerships, and complex commercial models.
- Experience operating in highly regulated healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, or similarly complex environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing revenue targets, budgets, forecasting, compensation plans, and resource allocation.
- Exceptional executive presence and the ability to build trusted relationships with C-suite customers, strategic partners, internal executives, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate market intelligence, customer needs, and business objectives into actionable commercial plans.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams, develop senior leaders, establish succession plans, and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills, with confidence representing the organization at major customer and industry events.
- Ability to operate effectively across functions and geographies while navigating complex organizational and market dynamics.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 40–50% of the time.
- Base salary range of $200,000–$350,000 per year.
