Job Description

Sr. Audit Manager, Commercial

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr. Audit Manager, Commercial in Canada.

This leadership role sits within a high-impact internal audit function focused on strengthening governance, risk management, and internal controls across commercial lending operations. You will play a critical role in evaluating complex credit and lending processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing independent assurance to senior leadership and the Board. Operating in a highly analytical and advisory capacity, you will shape audit strategy, influence risk decisions, and elevate control standards across the organization. The role combines hands-on audit execution with strategic oversight, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. You will collaborate closely with business, risk, and compliance leaders to identify emerging risks and improve operational resilience. This is a key position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced financial environment and wants to directly influence enterprise risk outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and execute end-to-end audit engagements across commercial and corporate lending portfolios, assessing risk, controls, and compliance frameworks
  • Develop audit plans, define scope and methodology, and ensure audits are executed in alignment with corporate audit standards and regulatory expectations
  • Evaluate internal control environments, identify deficiencies, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to mitigate risk and improve governance
  • Oversee audit reporting, delivering concise, high-quality insights to senior leadership, executive stakeholders, and the Board of Directors
  • Manage and contribute to SOC 2 and broader regulatory/compliance audit processes, including coordination with external auditors and remediation tracking
  • Provide strategic advisory input on business decisions, emerging risks, and changes in lending strategies or operational models
  • Lead and mentor audit teams, support performance management, and contribute to capability building across the audit function
  • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on risk priorities, audit outcomes, and remediation efforts
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in audit, risk management, or commercial/corporate lending environments, with strong front-line credit and lending expertise
  • Proven experience conducting or leading internal audit engagements within financial services or banking institutions
  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, risk management principles, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., SOX, SOC, or equivalent)
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent, or willingness to complete certification within defined timelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex financial and operational risks
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting audit findings to senior executives and governance bodies
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring auditors or leading cross-functional audit initiatives
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize multiple engagements, and operate effectively in a highly regulated environment
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and market benchmarks
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plans with employer contributions (e.g., RRSP/401K equivalents depending on location)
  • Generous paid time off and flexible work arrangements, including remote eligibility in Canada
  • Paid parental leave and family-support benefits
  • Professional development support, including certification reimbursement and training programs
  • Inclusive and collaborative work environment focused on growth, learning, and leadership development
