Job Description

Director of Strategic Marketing Initiatives

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Strategic Marketing Initiatives based in the United States.

This is a high-impact leadership role working directly with the Chief Marketing Officer and the broader Marketing Leadership Team.
You’ll lead strategic initiatives that span Marketing, Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Operations, often in areas without established ownership or processes.
The role combines strategy, business operations, process design, analytics, and hands-on execution to solve complex organizational challenges.
You’ll bring structure to ambiguity, establish governance and accountability, and turn strategic priorities into measurable business outcomes.
A major focus will be optimizing customer journeys, operational efficiency, competitive intelligence, and cross-functional marketing programs.
You’ll also champion automation and AI-first approaches to improve decision-making, scalability, speed, and execution quality.
Success means becoming a trusted advisor to executive leadership while helping build more efficient and effective ways of operating across the organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead high-priority, cross-functional strategic initiatives on behalf of the CMO, from initial concept and strategy through implementation and measurable business outcomes.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve end-to-end business processes spanning Marketing, Sales, Product, Customer Success, Revenue Operations, and other functions.
  • Establish clear ownership, governance structures, operating cadences, success metrics, and accountability for initiatives with fragmented or undefined responsibilities.
  • Lead customer acquisition and journey optimization programs, including self-service, product-led growth, and free-trial experiences, using data, experimentation, automation, and AI to improve conversion.
  • Develop scalable operating models for analyst relations activities, including evaluation submissions, cross-functional content development, executive reviews, timelines, and knowledge management.
  • Build repeatable competitive intelligence processes and translate insights into sales enablement, marketing messaging, product positioning, and executive communications.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of key marketing functions through operational reviews and business audits, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve accountability, and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Assess areas such as marketing planning and budgeting, advertising performance, SDR/BDR effectiveness, marketing operations, demand generation, lead management, funnel performance, and organizational workflows.
  • Partner closely with executive stakeholders and functional leaders to build alignment, resolve complex challenges, and maintain momentum across strategic programs.
  • Introduce automation and AI-first methodologies to improve operational speed, quality, scalability, and decision-making.
  • Track initiative performance through relevant metrics and communicate progress, risks, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CMO and an influential member of the Marketing Leadership Team.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, marketing operations, revenue operations, product marketing, or a related leadership discipline.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple executive stakeholders and business functions.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes, with proven experience redesigning workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and business impact.
  • Experience optimizing customer acquisition journeys, particularly self-service, product-led growth, free-trial, or other conversion-focused experiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, analytical capabilities, and operational rigor.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment among senior executives and diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments where ownership, processes, and operating models need to be established from the ground up.
  • Willingness to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution and personally address complex operational challenges.
  • Experience working closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and/or Revenue Operations teams.
  • Experience in an enterprise B2B SaaS environment is preferred.
  • Background in management consulting, strategic operations, or a comparable problem-solving environment is preferred.
  • Experience implementing automation, AI workflows, or process optimization initiatives is preferred.
  • Familiarity with customer journey analytics, experimentation frameworks, and conversion optimization is a plus.
  • An AI-first mindset and ability to identify practical opportunities to use AI to improve workflows, analysis, and decision-making.
Benefits:
  • Remote position available to candidates based in the United States.
  • High-impact opportunity with direct exposure to the Chief Marketing Officer and senior leadership.
  • Significant ownership over strategic initiatives that influence marketing effectiveness and broader business performance.
  • Opportunities to work across Marketing, Sales, Product, Customer Success, Revenue Operations, and other executive functions.
  • Challenging, high-growth environment offering substantial opportunities for professional development and learning.
  • Opportunity to drive the adoption of AI, automation, and modern operating practices across strategic business initiatives.
  • Inclusive and collaborative workplace that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Opportunity to influence organizational processes, governance, and operating models at scale.
  • Information security and privacy training and resources as part of the onboarding and ongoing professional development process.
