Job Description

The Accounting Clerk will support our Accounting Manager with various accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable, and general accounting tasks. This position will assist in bookkeeping, financial record-keeping, and administrative duties, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. The Accounting Clerk should possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, have strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a commitment to accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Clerk assists as a backup to accounts payable functions.
  • Assist in providing documentation and supporting materials for Audit Preparation.
  • Support in the preparation and reconciliation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, including activities related to the financial-close process.
  • Prepare and post monthly bank and credit card statements while ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of all accounts.
  • Compare project estimates against actual costs and generate weekly variance reports for review by senior management.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with weekly account reconciliations and cash flow forecasting activities.
  • Monitor and report on the financial status of various accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Issues freight-related purchase orders and provide backup support for issuing purchase orders related to third-party buyout vendors and site services.
  • Maintain open purchase order reports and ensure status updates are accurately tracked.
  • Maintain toll gate project data and relevant project related information within tracking spreadsheets.
  • Provide administrative support for expense reporting through Concur.
  • Develop, prepare and maintain checklists for various accounting and administrative tasks.
  • Support accounts receivable management activities by reviewing delinquent accounts, manage collections by following up with customers regarding outstanding payments, sending reminders, coordinating payment arrangements, and working closely with the Accounting Manager to resolve collection-related issues professionally and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • BS/BA degree required (Business or Accounting focus is preferred), 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proven experience with SAP and general accounting software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, reconciliations, and cost accounting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients, vendors, and team members professionally and courteously (via phone and email).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Experience with accounts payable and receivable, including collections and maintaining accurate documentation for financial audits.
  • Ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards task completion and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, on-site position.
  • Standard office hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during the month-end or year-end closing periods.
