Position Summary:
The Communications team is looking for an audience engagement assistant to help us reach new audiences and explore different channels and techniques. Reporting to the senior social media strategy lead, this role supports outreach and audience development, from social media initiatives to public relations activities. The assistant is responsible for developing and implementing a range of tactics for identifying and connecting with people and institutions who should know about Carnegie and our work.
Responsibilities:
- Support senior social media strategy lead in writing and developing social media content aligned with organizational goals; and use insights from audience behavior, campaign performance, and industry trends to guide planning and production.
- Stay up-to-date on changes across our platforms, including shifts in algorithms, continuously adjusting our content and planning, making recommendations as needed; track our results and conduct research to understand audience engagement, including media and influencer mapping.
- Support the creation and management of social media paid ads and collaborations and assist in monitoring and reporting results.
- Provide outreach support to two communications program liaisons by preparing and maintaining public relations materials including lists of media, influencers, and relevant contacts; and produce pitching materials, such as look books, as needed.
- Routinely scan for ways to reach new audiences, such as routinely sharing content and initiatives with media, scholars, decision makers, and influencers; identifying speaking events, panels, and potential content partnerships; and following up on back links that drive website visitors.
- Conduct routine monitoring and reporting of news coverage about the foundation and executive staff; provide alerts when warranted; compile data and analyze social media and publicity outcomes as needed.

- Ideal candidate is a utility player with a range of hands-on experience and a couple specialty areas.
Qualifications:
- At least two years working in a communications/marketing or journalism role, preferably for an agency, in-house team, or news organization.
- College degree required, preferably with a major that connects to our work: marketing and communications, and/or journalism, international relations, and education.
- Experience in MS Office, social media platforms, and PR databases such as Cision; proficient with workflow and communications apps, including Wrike and Slack.
- Experience in AI-assisted research, applications, and ethical considerations.

Salary Range:
$74,000 - $80,000 New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary hiring range posted depending on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
