- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers responsible for building platforms, pipelines, and interfaces that power catalog enrichment and ML access to product data.
- Define and execute the technical roadmap, balancing platform innovation with reliability, scalability, observability, and developer experience.
- Build and evolve AI-native enrichment systems that combine large language models, machine learning, workflow orchestration, rules-based systems, and human review processes.
- Drive the development of intelligent pipeline automation that enables users to create, evaluate, and optimize workflows through intuitive experiences.
- Own the architecture and evolution of ML-facing data systems, including product metadata management, governance policies, and data-sharing frameworks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including machine learning, search, advertising, operations, and business stakeholders to improve data flows and platform capabilities.
- Establish clear controls and processes for data quality, source prioritization, rights management, licensing, and compliance.
- Improve engineering productivity through automation, AI-assisted tooling, testing frameworks, investigation workflows, and operational improvements.
- Participate in technical architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews while contributing hands-on to complex engineering challenges.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing engineering teams as a people leader.
- Proven experience leading teams that build and operate production-scale data platforms, ML systems, or complex backend infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, and architectural decision-making.
- Experience owning data quality, reliability, compliance, or operational commitments through effective processes and frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience building scalable platforms in fast-growing environments with evolving technical and organizational needs.
- Familiarity with catalog, commerce, or product data platforms operating at significant scale is a strong advantage.
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration technologies such as Temporal, Airflow, or Flink is preferred.
- Experience delivering AI or ML-powered products in production, including understanding trade-offs between LLMs, traditional machine learning, rules-based approaches, and human review.
- Background in data governance, licensing, rights management, internal platforms, or developer productivity tooling is an asset.
- Strong leadership mindset with the ability to inspire teams, create alignment, and drive impactful outcomes.
- Competitive annual base salary range of CA$196,000–CA$207,000.
