Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Check-Mate Industries is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and elevate our quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving consistency, strengthening process control, and ensuring our quality infrastructure supports operational excellence as the business scales. The Quality Manager will work cross-functionally to improve performance, build accountability, and position quality as a competitive advantage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following, other duties maybe assigned based on departmental needs and company goals:
Quality Performance
  • Drive measurable improvement in key metrics, including scrap, rework, customer quality performance, and cost of poor quality
  • Establish clear visibility, ownership, and accountability for quality KPIs across the organization
Process Control & Continuous Improvement
  • Strengthen process control and inspection discipline across operations
  • Improve consistency across shifts, machines, and product lines
  • Leverage data, including SPC and trend analysis, to drive informed decision-making
Corrective Action & Issue Resolution
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action processes (CAPA)
  • Ensure timely resolution of quality issues and validate long-term effectiveness
  • Identify trends and proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives
Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Support certification efforts and readiness for ISO 13485, as applicable
  • Ensure procedures are practical, followed, and aligned with operational needs
Supplier Quality
  • Strengthen incoming inspection and supplier quality processes
  • Support supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement efforts
Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
  • Partner closely with operations to align quality objectives with production goals

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred supplemented with 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, with increasing responsibility; 3–5+ years of leadership experience in a production environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience with ISO 9001 required; ISO 13485 experience preferred
  • ERP system experience (PLEX preferred)
  • Strong expertise in:
    • PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP/FAI
    • Root cause analysis and CAPA methodologies
    • SPC and process capability analysis
  • Hands-on and highly visible on the shop floor
  • Data-driven and results-oriented
  • Clear, consistent, and accountable in leadership approach
  • Focused on building scalable, sustainable systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, reach overhead, lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Tasks require manual dexterity, hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other equipment. In addition to visual and hearing acuity; as well as identifying and distinguishing colors.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role involves working both on the shop floor and in the office within a high-volume manufacturing facility. While performing duties in designated production areas, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to ensure safety and compliance with workplace regulations. Additionally, the position may require occasional travel, typically less than 10% of the time.
