Job Overview: The Production Manager will play an essential role in the Production Department. This position will oversee City Center Mainstage productions, serve as the production manager on all City Center produced productions, and project manage other events as assigned. City Center productions include the annual Gala, Encores! series, the Fall for Dance Festival, Flamenco Festival and other dance programming. The Production Manager is expected to demonstrate a passion for production work while supporting City Center’s mission and commitment to being an anti-racist organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as production manager of City Center internal productions; tasks include but are not limited to: crew oversight, schedules, budget management, stage supervision etc.
  • Work with Artistic Directors, Directors, Choreographers, Designers, and Assistants to execute artistic vision within the time and budgetary constraints allotted by City Center, always with a collaborative and compassionate demeanor.
  • Plan and organize labor needs for City Center productions using budgets created by the Director of Production.
  • Work with Technical Director on design interpretation and implementation as it relates to overall budget and logistics for City Center productions.
  • Lead the Local 1 crew on load in, technical rehearsals, performances and load outs.
  • Collaborate with Director on Local One contract interpretations.
  • Organize and Run production meetings for City Center productions.
  • Manage all production schedules for City Center productions.
  • Weekly stagehand payroll preparation to be reviewed and submitted by Director.
  • Manage, input, and maintain the production aspects of City Center’s venue Management Database, Diese. Maintain a daily production log when overseeing stage operations.
  • Hire Props Coordinator, Costume Coordinators, Painters, Hair and Makeup crew as needed.
  • Oversee props inventory, rentals, procurement, rehearsal and production needs.
  • Partner with venue operations on Front of House needs for City Center productions (marketing lobby activations/installations, education community nights, etc.).
  • Manage or run events, as assigned.
  • Support Associate Production Manager in overseeing Wardrobe and Hair and Make-up departments.
  • Oversee Associate Production Manager organizing Studio events.
  • Support rentals production management team as needed and assigned.
  • Support Director in season planning, as assigned.
  • Submit parking permit requests.
  • Relay all Security Guard needs.
  • Assist the Director in the management of the department budget.
  • Must obtain the following FDNY certification within 3 months of hire:
    • F03 Fireguard for Indoor Place of Public Assembly


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a production management position.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Proficient with Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret Vectorworks drawings required, drafting skills are a plus.
  • Prior work experience in a unionized IATSE environment required.
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This role is part of a team that is responsible for on-site coverage of load-ins, evening technical rehearsals and performances including weekends and holidays.

RATE OF PAY: $72,000 - $80,000
