Regional Quality Assurance Manager

JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for quality systems across UBE’s regional manufacturing sites. This role is accountable for ensuring consistent implementation of quality standards, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives region-wide. The position partners closely with Operations, EHS, Engineering, Supply Chain, and senior leadership to drive product quality, customer satisfaction, and risk reduction across the organization
Requirements:Regional Quality Leadership:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Quality Assurance activities across regional manufacturing sites.
- Establish, deploy, and maintain consistent quality standards, policies, and procedures across the region.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for site-level quality issues and systemic risks.
- Oversee the effective operation of the Quality Management System (QMS) across all regional sites.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer, and certification requirements.
- Standardize quality processes including document control, training, change management, deviation management, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Support and lead internal audits, external audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure quality expectations are embedded throughout manufacturing operations, from raw material receipt through product release.
- Provide regional oversight of deviation investigations, non-conformances, complaints, and quality incidents.
- Review trends and data to identify systemic issues affecting product quality, reliability, or compliance.
- Partner with site leadership to implement corrective actions that are effective and sustainable.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving and risk-based approaches.
- Identify and proactively mitigate quality and compliance risks across the region.
- Monitor and analyze regional quality performance metrics and establish improvement priorities.
- Support operational excellence initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop plant-level Quality Managers and QA teams.
- Ensure consistent training, competency development, and performance expectations across sites.
- Participate in talent planning, succession planning, and performance management for QA staff.
- Promote strong collaboration between Quality and Operations teams.
- Partner with Operations, EHS, Engineering, Supply Chain, R&D, and Commercial teams to support business goals.
- Provide quality leadership for new product introductions, process changes, and capital projects.
- Support supplier quality management and material qualification strategies.
- Communicate regional quality performance and risks to senior leadership.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of progressive Quality Assurance experience in manufacturing.
- 5+ years in a regional, multi-site, or senior quality leadership role.
- Experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, preferably including: Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC), Ethyl Methyl Carbonate (EMC) and Urethanes or urethane intermediates.
- Strong understanding of: Quality Management Systems (IATF 16949), Deviation management, CAPA, auditing, and risk assessment.
- Manufacturing quality controls and process oversight.
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive change.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly within assigned region.
- Familiarity with LIMS
- Familiarity with SAP
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with batch and continuous chemical processes, raw material qualification and supplier quality, product specifications, COAs, and lab testing environments.
- Knowledge of chemical industry regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Professional certifications such as ASQ CQA, ISO Lead Auditor (or Internal Auditor).
