Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Online Learning for the School of Nursing is a Full-Time faculty position responsible for leading and supporting distance education initiatives within the nursing program. This role includes teaching, mentoring, admissions support, and coordination of clinical affiliations for ABSN and RN-BSN students. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator with a passion for innovative teaching models and student success.
Responsibilities:
• Teaching & Curriculum Development (12 Credits):
o Develop and implement intensive teaching models for ABSN students.
o Deliver on-ground lab and simulation instruction, including setup and facilitation as needed.
o Teach assigned nursing courses in accordance with program standards.
• Distance Learning Coordination:
o Lead the development and delivery of online and hybrid courses.
o Ensure quality and consistency in distance learning experiences.
o Collaborate with faculty to integrate technology-enhanced learning strategies.
• Admissions & Student Support:
o Coordinate ABSN and RN-BSN admissions.
o Participate in the interview process for prospective students.
o Support admissions and marketing efforts, including responding to inquiries and cold calls.
o Serve as a student mentor, with a focus on supporting at-risk students through weekly check-ins and academic guidance.
• Clinical Affiliation Management:
o Manage affiliation agreements with clinical partners outside a 100-mile radius of the Kansas City metro area.
o Ensure students meet clinical requirements for RN-BSN and ABSN programs.
• Program & Policy Support:
o Contribute to policy development and handbook updates.
o Collaborate with faculty and administration to maintain program accreditation standards.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Master of Science (MSN) degree in nursing required; Doctoral degree preferred.
• Current undisciplined license is required to practice professional nursing in Missouri.
• Academically and experientially qualified and maintain expertise in area of responsibility
• Approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing prior to appointment.
• Knowledge of best practices in practicum education and online education.
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, community partners, and staff.
• Experience in establishing and maintaining community partnerships for practicum placements.
• Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), such as Canvas or Blackboard, and other online teaching technologies.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible work environment.
• Familiarity with accreditation processes in nursing education preferred.
• Experience teaching traditional and non-traditional students preferred.
• Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
