Sioux Falls Lutheran School is looking for a Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach to join our athletics program. This coach will work alongside the Head Coach to develop basketball skills, build confidence, and create a positive team culture grounded in Christian character, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with practices focused on basketball fundamentals, skill development, strategy, and teamwork
• Provide instruction, feedback, and encouragement to help athletes grow
• Assist with coaching during middle school games and implementation of game plans
• Help athletes develop game awareness, confidence, responsibility, and teamwork
• Support practice setup, equipment, and other team needs
• Help create a positive team culture built around respect, accountability, effort, and Christian values
• Communicate professionally with athletes, families, and coaching staff
• Work closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Director to support the overall basketball program

We’re looking for a coach who:

• Enjoys working with middle school student-athletes
• Has a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategy
• Can teach, encourage, and provide constructive feedback to developing athletes
• Models positive leadership, sportsmanship, and Christian character
• Communicates well and works effectively as part of a coaching team
• Supports the Christian mission and values of Sioux Falls Lutheran School

Previous coaching or competitive basketball experience is preferred.

This is a part-time, seasonal position supporting our 6th–8th grade girls basketball program. Coaches are expected to participate in scheduled practices and games throughout the season.

As part of Sioux Falls Lutheran School's commitment to intentional athlete development, coaches also participate in twice-monthly Coaching Huddles and the school's 3D Coaching process focused on setting goals, applying strategies, and reflecting on growth.

First Aid/CPR certification and successful completion of required background screening are required.

Coaching here is about more than basketball. It’s an opportunity to help young athletes develop their skills, confidence, character, and understanding of what it means to be a great teammate.
