The Role:

As a Sustainability Specialist, you will support the execution of the company’s sustainability and ESG strategy by coordinating initiatives, managing data and reporting, and strengthening supply chain transparency across operations.

You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners and external suppliers to track environmental performance, ensure audit‑ready documentation, and support continuous improvement across sustainability, traceability, and responsible sourcing programs.

  • Support the execution of corporate sustainability and ESG initiatives by coordinating action plans, tracking progress against annual and long‑term targets, and following up with internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate environmental and sustainability activities across facilities and relevant supply chains, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions management aligned with recognized frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, SBTi, and TCFD.
  • Lead the collection, validation, and analysis of sustainability and environmental performance data, maintaining clear documentation of assumptions, methodologies, and data quality controls.
  • Coordinate inputs, evidence files, and supporting documentation for sustainability disclosures and customer reporting requirements (e.g., CDP, SupplyShift/THESIS, and other customer‑specific submissions).
  • Maintain audit‑ready sustainability, traceability, and certification records, and support third‑party audits and certification programs such as SMETA, Organic, Rainforest Alliance, and Fairtrade.
  • Manage supply chain traceability by maintaining accurate records for certified and non‑certified materials and partnering with Procurement, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to verify documentation and resolve gaps.
  • Support supplier engagement activities, including certification tracking, ESG questionnaires, Sedex/SMETA data management, and follow‑ups to close data gaps and compliance issues.
  • Monitor supplier sustainability and traceability performance, proactively addressing risks, discrepancies, and missing documentation.
  • Support cross‑functional sustainability projects by coordinating timelines, tracking deliverables, preparing status updates, and escalating risks or roadblocks as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of internal presentations, training materials, and tools to support sustainability programs and employee engagement.
  • Draft clear and accurate sustainability communications for internal teams and customer audiences.
  • Stay informed on emerging ESG trends, risks, and opportunities at coffee and tea origins and share insights to support sustainable sourcing and decision‑making.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental compliance, supply chain, quality, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting sustainability frameworks and standards (for example: GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, SMETA, and/or Rainforest Alliance) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of GHG inventory management and accounting, including GHG Protocol proficiency is an asset.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) with ability to tailor messages to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Spanish as a proficient language is an asset for supplier engagement and origin direct impact project work.
  • Team player with a strong inclination to develop co-operative solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate stakeholders across departments.
  • A self-starter who is results-oriented, with a strong and positive business outlook.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the coffee and tea industry and supply chain is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and collaboration tools (including Copilot), ability to build clear, accurate summaries and dashboards.
