Director of Insights and Strategy

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Insights and Strategy based in the United States.

This role combines advanced consumer research, strategic thinking, client leadership, and people management to turn complex data into meaningful business decisions.
You will lead quantitative and qualitative research programs from initial scoping through final delivery, ensuring methodological rigor and practical relevance.
The position offers significant client exposure, with responsibility for becoming a trusted strategic partner who understands business priorities and long-term goals.
You will guide sophisticated statistical analysis while translating findings into compelling stories, recommendations, and actionable strategies.
As a people leader, you will develop consumer insights professionals and help strengthen their analytical and strategic capabilities.
You will work in a collaborative, learning-oriented environment alongside ambitious brands and teams that value curiosity, creativity, research excellence, and impact.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the design and execution of quantitative and qualitative consumer research projects, ensuring research approaches are rigorous, relevant, and closely aligned with client objectives.
  • Evaluate sampling dynamics, data quality, analytical patterns, and exploratory findings to ensure the integrity and reliability of research projects.
  • Conduct sophisticated statistical analyses, including regression, factor analysis, variable reduction, and other advanced analytical techniques.
  • Translate strategic business questions into clear research objectives, methodologies, analytical frameworks, and actionable recommendations.
  • Own research projects from end to end, coordinating internal teams, external vendors, partners, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients by developing a deep understanding of their businesses, priorities, stakeholders, and strategic objectives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing proactive communication, thoughtful guidance, and strategic recommendations throughout engagements.
  • Interpret research findings holistically, connecting detailed analytical results to broader business implications, opportunities, and decisions.
  • Develop and communicate insights through compelling presentations, written reports, white papers, and other engaging formats, including multimedia when appropriate.
  • Lead and develop Consumer Insights Analysts and Managers, providing coaching, mentorship, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Contribute to the continued refinement of research methodologies, technologies, processes, and approaches to improve quality, efficiency, and client impact.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative consumer insights, with experience executing a broad range of survey-based research such as brand tracking, customer journey mapping, conjoint analysis, segmentation, pricing, or similar studies.
  • 3+ years of experience managing client relationships and communications as a primary point of contact while owning consumer insights and business strategy projects from start to finish.
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams of analysts, strategists, or other consumer insights professionals.
  • Strong ability to transform high-level business questions into focused research objectives and appropriate research approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze raw data, identify meaningful patterns, and uncover novel insights that can influence business decisions.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to connect research findings to tangible business outcomes and broader commercial strategy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Knowledge of STATA, R, or another statistical analysis package is preferred.
  • Presentation design expertise and the ability to create compelling, visually engaging insight stories are preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trust across different personalities, functions, and organizational levels.
  • Genuine interest in building authentic professional relationships and helping clients and colleagues succeed.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, project management, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for exploring new research techniques, technologies, methodologies, and analytical approaches.
