Senior Director, Product Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Product Engineering based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a modern software engineering and digital product organization.
You will drive the development of scalable technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, customer experiences, and business growth.
As a senior technology leader, you will connect engineering teams with business stakeholders, translating complex needs into impactful digital products.
The position requires a balance of technical expertise, product leadership, strategic planning, and team development.
You will shape engineering priorities, improve delivery practices, and ensure technology investments are aligned with organizational goals.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Director of Product Engineering will lead software engineering and digital product strategy, ensuring teams are focused on high-impact initiatives while creating strong alignment between technology capabilities and business objectives.

  • Own and execute the digital product roadmap, aligning engineering priorities with organizational goals and cross-functional business needs.
  • Partner with technology leadership and business stakeholders to define success metrics, improve delivery visibility, and optimize engineering capacity.
  • Establish product intake, prioritization, and roadmap governance processes to ensure resources are focused on the highest-value initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical priorities while communicating tradeoffs, timelines, dependencies, and delivery considerations.
  • Coordinate across Software, Data, and AI teams to identify opportunities, align dependencies, and support integrated technology solutions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Program Managers and Principal Engineers by establishing accountability, supporting growth, and aligning team objectives.
  • Manage multiple concurrent engineering initiatives while maintaining visibility into delivery health, risks, blockers, and resource capacity.
  • Oversee Agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, and development workflow improvements.
  • Monitor engineering performance through tools such as Azure DevOps, ensuring project tracking, documentation, and delivery processes remain effective.
  • Evaluate software architecture decisions, technical proposals, and build-versus-buy strategies to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on cloud-based development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable software delivery approaches.
  • Build strong partnerships across technical and business teams to drive collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced technology leader with a strong background in software engineering, product development, and managing high-performing technical teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive technology experience, including hands-on software development experience and production coding experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical teams, including coaching, performance management, and talent development.
  • Proven experience building and delivering modern web applications using technologies such as Node.js, Express, React, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, integration patterns, and distributed system communication.
  • Ability to review code, evaluate technical implementations, and provide informed engineering guidance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle principles and Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience creating product intake processes, roadmap strategies, prioritization frameworks, and portfolio governance models.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, align engineering resources, and communicate delivery risks and progress to senior leadership.
  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs for technical teams.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams through collaboration, credibility, and strong relationship-building.
  • Understanding of how software, data, and AI-enabled solutions support business operations and decision-making.
  • Experience with real estate, multi-family housing, PropTech, or related industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep, AI/ML solution delivery, and Microsoft ecosystem tools is advantageous.
