This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Service Designer based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to shape inclusive, human-centred services within a meaningful government transformation program.
You will work at the intersection of user needs, business objectives, operational considerations, and technical solutions.
Your work will help translate research, requirements, and stakeholder insights into practical service and experience designs.
You will collaborate closely with Product Managers and multidisciplinary teams throughout service design and planning phases.
The role combines research, facilitation, journey mapping, functional design, and storytelling to guide important product and service decisions.
You will have the opportunity to influence how services are planned and delivered within an Agile environment.
This is a fully remote contract opportunity for a designer who enjoys solving complex challenges through collaboration and human-centred thinking.
Facilitate collaborative working sessions to gather user insights, business needs, requirements, and perspectives from diverse stakeholders.
Create functional flows and other experience artifacts that clearly visualize user journeys and proposed service experiences.
Partner with Product Managers to refine features, bringing a human-centred design perspective to proposed solutions and acceptance criteria.
Analyze insights and findings from generative research to inform, evolve, and refine the target platform experience.
Develop conceptual design assets based on project needs, including user flows, functional flows, journey maps, conceptual mockups, and related artifacts.
Contribute to feature creation and authoring, helping improve the quality, consistency, and overall hygiene of product requirements.
Balance human needs, business objectives, operational realities, and technical constraints when developing service and experience solutions.
Frame and communicate design solutions clearly, explaining the team's thinking, rationale, research findings, and recommendations to diverse audiences.
Contribute to communication around research findings, conceptual designs, service strategy, service delivery, and implementation.
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to key planning and design decisions required to meet delivery timelines within an Agile environment.
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Service Design, Interaction Design, or Design Research, combined with a foundational understanding of the other areas.
Demonstrated ability to apply human-centred design methodologies to complex business and customer challenges involving diverse users, products, services, and channels.
Experience designing and improving end-to-end experiences across digital and physical touchpoints.
Ability to balance user needs with business objectives, operational considerations, and technical constraints.
Strong ability to translate research findings, customer insights, and business requirements into actionable design recommendations and practical solutions.
Proficiency with Figma, including experience creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and collaborative design artifacts.
Experience planning and facilitating workshops, including designing workshop activities, preparing supporting materials, and developing stakeholder engagement approaches.
Strong qualitative research capabilities, including experience with interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, and related research methods.
Proven ability to synthesize large volumes of qualitative information into meaningful insights that influence product, service, and experience decisions.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain design rationale and make complex concepts accessible to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
Comfortable working in an Agile delivery environment and contributing to planning and delivery activities.
Current Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance or higher is required at the time of application.
CAD $75–$95 per hour compensation range.
Fully remote contract opportunity within Canada.
Contract duration from ASAP through December 31, 2026.
