UMC Security Guard

PART I - General Job / Performance Information
Education and Experience
- None
Environmental / Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in adverse temperatures or climatic conditions. Respond to any type of emergency 24 hours a day. Could come in contactwith infectious diseases, toxic or irritant chemicals. Must be able to work flexible hours, all shifts.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

Job Description
- Provides protective service for the entire hospital, the enforcement of hospital policies and parking and traffic control, a valid Texas driverlicense is required. Duties involve the enforcement of rules and regulations pertaining to the operation and parking of vehicles as well as thesecurity of persons, buildings, and property on hospital premises. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance withestablishedprocedures and is evaluated on the effective implementaion of hospital regulations and adherence to departmental guidelines. Security isresponsible for morgue duties.

- None
Physical Capabilities
- Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical exertion. Standing and walking for long periods of time. Physically restrain patients orunruly visitors when necessary. Assist in moving patients.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn the policies and procedures of both the hospital and department. Ability to learn the location of buildings, departments andoffices at the hospital. Ability to react calmly and to perform physically strenuous activities in an emergency situation. Skill in courteously,effectively and tactfully assisting employees, visitors and patients.
