About This Position

Position Summary
- Schedules surgeries and procedures in an efficient manner. Schedules surgeries and other related exams or procedures for all providers. Meets with patients to provide handouts related to surgery as a well as instructions for before and after their procedure(s). Makes diagnostic and outgoing referral appointments to include faxing records, scheduling appointments, and notifying patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work Experience
  - One year of medical office/healthcare experience required.
  - Exposure to medical terminology preferred.
- Education
  - High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure
  - None required.
Job Specific Performance Standards
- The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned, and specific functions may change from time to time.
  - Schedules appointments, surgeries and other related exams or procedures for all providers, keeping courteous communication. Maintains each provider’s calendar preference for surgery.
  - Notifies hospital and physician of cancellations and/or rescheduled procedures. Coordinates with reps involved with surgeries.
  - Meets with patients to provide handouts related to their procedure and instructions for before and after their procedure. Contacts all surgical patients the day prior to surgery with the time of arrival at the hospital and answers any questions they might have.
  - Makes diagnostic and outgoing referral appointments to include faxing records, scheduling appointments, and notifying patients. Facilitates physician orders for diagnostic tests, surgeries and/or related procedures.
  - Runs Kasper reports on all surgical patients and scans them into the system after reviewed by provider.
  - Provides a variety of clerical medical office duties to facilitate daily operations, including verification of deposits. Assists with registration and discharge of patients, pre-certification, and other related duties as needed.
